  • Conservatives, Beware of Fred Thompson

This is yet another man (Vagarie or whatever) who believes his was is the only way and if you don’t do everything as he says it, then you’re not a conservative. We’ll I am a conservative and I believe that we have to move society to the right in increments - everyone here seems to think we can just win control of everything and in one fail swoop change everything back to the way we want it.

Sounds good in theory, but impossible to affect through legislation and even if you get the legislation, we have radical communities and cities (and states) who refuse to live by the Law of the Land (e.g. Sanctuary Cities). We need a leader who can affect change in the hearts and minds of the people - who will cause people to rise up as leaders in their own community to create the society we want.

While Fred Thompson may not be the perfect conservative, he is a good man who has the potential to be a “grandfather” figure to an entire generation of upcoming leaders. I was raised with Reagan in office and his demeanor and language effected me in subconscious ways that have instilled conservative values in me. I want my children to have a president who, while perhaps not the beacon of conservative thought, will lead the way be telling the people what he thinks is right and wrong and following through on that.

George Bush may not be perfect, but I have no problem having my children listening to what he says or admiring his life - studying his life. Same goes for Ronaldus Magnus and GHW. I believe the same would be said of Fred Thompson. He will be a strong voice for our general way of life, our belief in the basic tenets of humanity and the conservative construct. I will continue to learn more about him, but right now, for m money, he is the man I want in that office when GWB departs.

Maybe that’s image over substance, but for too long conservatives have let the “image” world of Hollywood craft popular culture while the conservative “image” have been left to the left to define. LEt’s let FDT be the image of conservative.

P.S. Wouldn’t mind seeing Rudy as VP and placed in charge of directing/overseeing the war on terror. Perhaps “Minister of Terrorist Justice”, not in charge of nominating Justices or Vetoing legislation.

This is yet another post by the Duncan Hunter brigade. Mr. Hunter may be a good man but he is not in the league of Thompson and this just feeds into the notion of the Duncanites “nipping” at the heels of a good man because they can’t stand toe to toe with Thompson.

Sorry pissant but Thompson is a better candidate. Perhaps Duncan can be more useful in the house leadership, but he is not presidential material - in my opinion.

You along with many of us will down the road be resspectful of Bush because when pitted against other Presidents in historical context, he’s done a good job, plus dealt with 9-11 and much more.

My major complaint is that they wasted full control of the legislature and could have done a lot of good things. I’m more angry about that than this immigration bill because I don’t think this bill will ever come to fruition. But that’s a hope.

Debate is good. Presidents aren’t always right and neither are you and I, but our form of government is the best invented to date, so we just have to use the tools available to us to get our voices heard. And I think ranting on this site is one vehicle for being heard.

I think we have to step back and remember that Bush has control of the War reigns independant of the legislature. He has stayed the course, stared down funding threats from Congress and done the right thing in Iraq and abroad when it comes to the war. He deserves our respect and thanks for that.

But everyone has different opinions on the immigration bill. I frankly think it’s selling out our birth right and the first step the reclamation of Aztlan or whatever La Raza calls it. But I think President Bush just thinks this is a good idea, that it will solve some problems. He’s wrong on that. And, we the people, have the ability to influence or prevent that mistake by doing exactly what we’re doing.

If Bush enacted this as a policy or with some Executive Order, then I can see why everyone jumps off the good ship Bush, but he took what he thought was a good idea to Congress. If they don’t listen to us and pass this turd, then it’s on them EVERY BIT as much as it is on Bush. I don’t hate Bush for bringing it up - he’s from Texas, he’s buddies with Mexico’s President, etc. We knew going in that Bush was friendly to Mexican immigrants - illegal or otherwise.

It’s up to us to say this is bad legislation that the country doesn’t want and through our representatives, we want this bill killed and replaced with a simple border enforcement first measure. So trash Bush for this, but he’s doing what we all could have seen coming. Let’s put this one on the congressmen if it gets enacted. They are the ones in control of legislation. Period.

  • Majority of Republicans Doubt Theory of Evolution

    06/11/2007 2:46:54 PM PDT · 72 of 336
    dannyboy72 to Alter Kaker

All articles written about evolution always come from the perspective of ...”how stupid, all these people still don’t believe in evolution...what is wrong with them”. But the truth is there is no evidence that proves the “theory” of evolution. The person who put forth the theory of evolution thought Blacks were an inferior offshoot or animalistic race.

I personally believe in “adaptation”, not evolution. I don’t think we evolved from a single cell. I think we were a planned creation that has adapted to our surroundings. And for all of the holier-than-thou evolutionists to say they are right, when they openly admit they cannot prove this, is all about egotism. Them being smarter than anyone else. Just because the Libs and the schools have “taught” evolution for decades doesn’t mean it’s true.

The “fact” that blacks were inferior, not human, was taught for hundreds of years. Didn’t mean it was true. So, evolutionists, I think it’s adaptation, prove me wrong. You can’t.

I’ve said this on nearly every Fred Dalton Thompson thread - This is the one man among our candidates that I will physically go out and support. I will get up off my comfy chair in front of the computer and make people around me vote for this man. The others... ehhh I’ll vote for any of them over the Wicked Witch of New York...er Arkansas ..er Chicago.. er whatever.

But if Fred runs, I think you’ll see a whole lot of energy in the base. Ask Neil Cavuto what he thought when Thompson showed up pro se for his interview.

Could this be terror related? He’s driving a white mini-van (known to be a favorite of the ROP), he accidentally hits someone and rather than sticking around for a cop to get a simple ticket, he takes off?

Then he hit and drags her when he’s confronted “by a woman” no less. Then, has the resources to get on a plane to NY and then t Greece? That’s some big dollars for that plane ticket.

This has Terror operative whose cover was about to be blown because of a traffic accident all over it. Could be nothing, but i’d be going over this guy with a double fine tooth comb!

It’s just standard pre-election year. When Republicans are in office, the homeless/hunger stories start and before the middle of next year, the media will have the country feeling like all americans are homeless and the economy is in the tank...course reality doen’t matter.

They sould replace her with Patricia Heaton (sp) - the lady who plays Ray’s wife on “Everybody Loves Raymond”. From what I know she seems to be a well-reasoned, articulate lady. As for her politics, I am pretty sure she is very pro-life including taking a strong position against the stem cell initiatives in Missouri.

Anyway, I think she could be a good messenger for just plain decency - not conservative or liberal - just plain reason and what used to be called “common sense”.

Without disagreeing with you that abortion is the largest genocide in human history... By returning abortion decisions to the states, we essentially remove 30+ states from the battlefield with a single stroke. Right now we’re fighting abortion in every state, in almost every township or region in the country. With Roe undone, we can focus our efforts on getting abortion on the ballots in every state that doesn’t immediately outlaw it. AND. If abortion is on the ballot, you can bet that the conservative base will be mobilized and you will see another takeover of the government by conservatives (not republicans). Thus allowing us to push through a constitutional amendment against the killing of life in the womb - citing the 30-40 states which currently outlaw it.

It might take 30 years to end the killing, but i’d rather be on a path that will take 30 years than on a path where we have to convince the entire country AND THEN convince US congressmen to vote it out. No guarantee it’ll stop either way, but learn from the libs and get what we want a little push at a time. /rant

I live right outside Belleville and happen to be friends with the Coroner. This incident was the first time I have ever seen the man (the coroner) visibly shaken for days over anything - and he’s seen plenty from East St. Louis.

What made me angry was the way the lawyers around the courthouse were gleefully excited that this case is going on. It’s like their Super Bowl and it’s just morbid.

Love Freddy T...he's got that Grandfather feel that Reagan had for me when I was young. Thompson could well help to influence another generation of young minds in the school systems...not to mention he'd be an outstanding POTUS. His powerful and recognizable voice would lend credance to the message during this War.

He has my full support and I would campaign for and donate to him in a heartbeat.
