OLIVER TOWNSHIP, MI — A wind turbine located in Huron County fell over during a winter storm that brought wind and heavy snow to much of the state, but the cause of the collapse is unclear. The Exelon Corp. turbine is located near Gagetown and Richardson roads in Oliver Township, according to Huron County Central Dispatch. A city in Michigan is perplexed after a a tar-like substance has rained down on their cars, porches and driveways this week. The black, oily substance first appeared on at least six driveways in Harrison Township on Sunday, and days later, what the material is still remains a mystery. NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Navy's newest ship had to be towed to a base in Virginia after breaking down during its journey to its home port in California. The USS Milwaukee, a littoral combat ship that was commissioned in November, was towed more than 40 nautical miles to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek after suffering an engineering casualty on Friday, The Navy Times reported (http://bit.ly/1UfolwL ). DETROIT - A pastor shot and killed a man armed with a brick during a church service on Sunday after the man threatened parishioners at the City of God Church on Detroit’s west side, according to police. Police arrested a congressional staffer to Democratic Rep. Sander Levin Oct. 8 following a bizarre altercation where he attacked a lover with a shovel. A Michigan man employed at the Hillsdale Bob Evans plant was fired after refusing to remove a Confederate flag from his truck, the Hillsdale Daily News reports. According to the man, his bosses at the plant forced him to remove it after receiving a single anonymous complaint.
