Hey there folks. A buddy of mine asked me to come up to shoot next weekend and I'm coming up empty on ammo availability. Anybody know of a decent online retailer I could try? I struck out on all the big chains like Cabelas and Gander outdoors.

The dusty hallways of my memory. | 01/02/19 | Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar...I MEAN CC
Greetings, fellow campers. Many moons ago, when I had more hair, more disposable income and less financial wisdom I went to ye olde "gun and knife show" with money and no real gun knowledge. My mission: buy an "ak". I kinda knew what they looked like, but little else. I did indeed end up purchasing an "ak" that day for the princely sum of $150 (this was when the word "norinco" could still be found on boxes of new guns). Took it home, shot it a little, admired it and showed it to my buddies a lot more. A few...

An obscure gun shop in the thumb | 02/22/17 | Me
Ladies and gents, i think I've lucked out. Every year at this time when my tax return comes in I treat myself to a new firearm. Last year it was a snubby revolver. This year I found myself a Chinese SKS in pristine condition. The bore is spotless. The stock is clear and unmarked, the weapon functions flawlessly. I did some net research and it seems to have been made for the Chinese PLA, circa 1975. Just a really nice piece. But then I noticed something. With every other com-bloc weapon I've ever bought the importer has either laser etched...

Greeting, Kitteh lovers everywhere. I just got a new Furbaby! I Lost my dear Suzie Q about 7 weeks ago. I was just heartbroken. Of all the cats, she was "my" cat. While departing the vet with an empty Cat carrier (a truly crappy experience) I noticed a sign up advertising kittens. Despite my sadness something said "take the number" , so I did. I exchanged texts and photos with the mama cats owner and picked one out. I just got home with her. She is a grayish brown "dilute" tortoiseshell with a facial "blaze" on her right cheek which...

A Really Neat Antique Shop | 05/01/16 | Celtic Conservative
Okay folks on the left coast, help me out. Whilst rummaging through a antique shop I found a really neat photo. It is a photo of a combination drive through florist shop and restaurant in Los Angeles. Based on the cars in the shot, It could be from anywhere from 1948 to 1952 (sorry, I don't have the ability to post pictures). The sign on the business says "McEldowneys". From my research it was owned By JK McEldowney, a LA businessman who went on to make the classic 1951 film "The River". He died in 2004 at the age of...
  • Just Got My Concealed Carry License

    my brain | 02/18/16 | Me
I just received my concealed carry permit in the mail. It's funny, I've carried a gun for a living for 22 years (prison officer). Up until now I've never felt the need to carry off duty. I could've had one at any time by simply filling out some paperwork. I didn't feel the need. Over the last year I've been confronted by parolees twice. They saw my uniform (on the way to/from work) and decided to tell me what they thought about me, the criminal justice field and the world in general in no uncertain terms. One was drunk and...
  • Just bought a Tokarev TT

Just bought a Tokarev TT. Interesting pistol. It's been called the "Soviet 1911" and after disassembly and cleaning I can see why. Mine is a romanian model with a production date of 1956. To meet import regulations a frame mounted trigger safety has been added. It's fairly crisp and positive functioning, but just the same I don't think I'll be using it a lot. Most literature I've read on the TT doesn't recommend carry with a round chambered anyway. The Soviets carried them chamber empty. I'm looking forward to getting some range time with it when possible. I heard they're...
  • Enya: "Dark Sky Island", first release in 7 years to debut November 20th.

Just pre ordered the new Enya album. As a part of the pre order you get 2 songs off the release. The songs are titled "Echoes In Rain" and "So I Could Find My Way". If these 2 songs are any indication of the way the rest of the album is, Enya should be able to purchase a few more castles in the near future. The first song "Echoes In Rain" is a bright strident tune with Enya's trademark sound- deeply layered voice and instrument tracks with hints of both classical and ecclesiastic music. But more than that, this is...

Well, having a double laminectomy/ Discectomy tomorrow. I don't really want to do it, but the doctor says the longer I wait the less likely function will return. I have 50% weakness in the left leg and a foot drop. It turns out I have direct impingement on the nerves which is blocking the nerve impulses. I've done excersize/therapy in the past. This time 0% improvement after 5 weeks of therapy. If this doesn't give me some improvement I'm looking at medical retirement (law enforcement). I don't really want to retire now, but God is good, I guess we'll let...

My freezing chapped butt | 01/28/14 | Celtic Conservative
OK folks, this whole winter is getting out of hand. I write from the frostbitten thumb of the enchanted mitten, otherwise known as Michigan. I went to go to lunch a couple of hours ago and it was -1 out with a strong south breeze that puts the wind chill at about -30. I shudder to open my next heating bill. I should be able to tell it from the other mail by weight alone. We have absolutely smashed the January snowfall records (at approx. 38" if I recall) and there still a few days left to bulk up the...

At approximately 0757 EST My mother, a dear, sweet woman good christian and avowed patriot, Left this realm to be with the Lord. Some of you may know me as an intermittent poster/lurker here. You are in some ways My closest and dearest buddies both on the web and elsewhere. She leaves behind 3 daughters, a son ,7 grandchildren and far too many friends to count. She was a leader in her church, a dedicated conservative and one woman dynamo. I will just remember my dear sweet mother and know that as long as God sends women such as these,...
