Or cities. But, if your assertion is true (that the bans are not harmful for business), the bans will at least stay in place, and should not have any exceptions carved out (e.g., for hotels to accomodate loss in convention business, etc.).

I was commenting to my better half about the old Russian practice of fal;sifying maps, roadsigns and almanacs in order to make it more difficult for outsiders to invade. Wonder if we'll ever get to the point that holding "too much accurate information" will become a crime.

Was that before the smoking ban in NY? I think it was. Smoking was permitted at least in drinking places, e.g. La Guardia bar, in October 2000, but not in Oct 2003.

Umm. False. Not to pick on you, as there are many pother factual errors in posts on this thread. The lady was a passenger, she did get 3rd degree burns, and 3rd degree burns are possible with water below boiling temperature.

Anyway, I won't bother to recite the actual facts of the case, because googling "McDonalds Coffee" will get you plenty of factual links.

Notice that the newspapers didn't prominently report the reduction in legal award ... not sensational, and the media is in business to sell papers and make money, not to imbue the reader with an accurate sense of reality.

The only US Presidents who have been impeached are Andrew Johnson (Senate trial in 1868) and Billy Clinton. Johnson was not a member of the Republican party. So, I assumed you meant Nixon when you wrote "... the last Republican who was impeached. Disgraced for life."

Remember what happened to the last Republican who was impeached.

Nixon was NOT impeached. He was threatened with it, and resigned rather than face the disgrace of impeachment.

What we are witnessing is the removal of "disgrace" from "impeachment." Nixon is less honorable, for having resigned, than Clinton is for being impeached. That is liberalism at work, my friend. Liars and cheats, they are.

I remember it well. Watching the House on TV, and the vote came down ... impeach! I did a jig, popped a bottle of bubbly, and the wife and I celebrated. It was a very happy moment for us, for generally the reason that we value honesty in front of a court, and think people who lie in front of a court deserve darn well to be called on it.

Seems they never learn.

Once cure would be to make the elections less relevant, i.e., make the government smaller and less intrusive. Then you wouldn't care so much abot "the people who never learn" or "the people who are too lazy to vote."

"Personal property" ... not "real property." Some jurisdictions tax personal assets such as tractors, snowmobiles (over and above registration fees) and other personal property ... even if the person does not own a house.
