Whose interests are served by this tragic war? Certainly not those of either Russia or the Ukraine.
My belief is that the power growing stronger out of all this is Turkey. Europeans look down on Turkey, but that is shortsighted. It was was a great power in the past, and can be again.
Turkey played an active role in flooding Europe with refugees. They have an interest in seizing the Crimea, and weakening the Slavic powers makes that possible. Turkey has been allowed to plot the overthrow of the Syrian government and seize northern Syria. They are winning on several fronts, and no one seems to think about what this means for the future.
Australia is very surprised. We all thought, either that the existing free trade agreement with the US would hold, or else that we have a special status.
I agree. And I am not impressed that they did not autopsy the dog. Also, Gene Hackman’s friends visited him in January and found him very lively and lucid.
It is strange. One would expect her to get help if she was ill. She was a wealthy lady, and hantavirus, although a quickly advancing virus, does not kill in minutes. It’s not cyanide.
It’s terrifying that one might be sick without knowing it ... working without knowing it ... going about one’s day without knowing it ... It could go on for one’s whole life!
The person in question - Nadir - now says that he was joking. No one finds it funny. He also posed as a doctor, but he is a nurse. It is a separate offence, in Australian law, to pretend to be a medical doctor.
The prospect of ownership of Ukrainian resources will be a reason to continue the war. It looked as if a peace settlement was on the way, but I do not see that now. Time will tell.
