    CARACAS, March 3 (AFP) - More than 50,000 oil workers in Venezuela began an indefinite strike early Friday against the state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) oil company, the head of the Confederation of Venezuelan Workers said. Carlos Navarro said that 90 percent of the oil company's 60,000 workers had decided to heed the strike call by the Fedepetrol, Fetrahidrocarburos and SUMA unions. The strike affects oil installations on Maracaibo Lake, 500 kilometers (300 miles) west of Caracas, and the northeastern states of Anzoategui and Guarico, site of new oil fields in the Orinoco River belt.
