Posted on Sat, Jun. 07, 2003 Support for authenticity of book of Matthew comes from an unlikely place By NEIL ALTMAN Special to The Star Buried in ancient texts of Jewish historical works are fragments of evidence that appear to show the first book of the New Testament actually was written by one of Jesus' apostles. One of these texts also challenges a long-held assertion that no ancient text except the Bible mentions Jesus' birth. Taken together, the information lends support to the claims of some Christian scholars that Matthew actually wrote the Gospel bearing his name, a Gospel that...

President Applauds Supreme Court for Recognizing Value of Diversity Statement by the President I applaud the Supreme Court for recognizing the value of diversity on our Nation's campuses. Diversity is one of America's greatest strengths. Today's decisions seek a careful balance between the goal of campus diversity and the fundamental principle of equal treatment under the law. My Administration will continue to promote policies that expand educational opportunities for Americans from all racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. There are innovative and proven ways for colleges and universities to reflect our diversity without using racial quotas. The Court has made clear...

Agent Who Saw 9/11 Lapses Still Faults F.B.I. on Terror By PHILIP SHENON WASHINGTON, March 5 — The veteran F.B.I. agent who exposed the bureau's failure to heed evidence of terrorist plots before the Sept. 11 attacks is now warning her superiors that the bureau is not prepared to deal with new terrorist strikes that she and many colleagues fear would result from an American war with Iraq. Advertisement The agent, Coleen Rowley of the bureau's Minneapolis field office, is not a counterterrorism specialist and does not have access to detailed intelligence about Al Qaeda and its planning. But she...

CATHOLIC CHURCH ADVISED TO SUE 'SEX-EXPERTS' WHO COUNSELLED PEDOPHILE PRIESTS NEW YORK, January 14, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Dr. Judith Reisman, Ph. D., the researcher who uncovered the fraud underpinning the field of sexology created by Dr. Alfred Kinsey, has advised the Catholic Church to sue the so-called sex "experts" who advised the Bishops and allegedly "treated" sex abuser priests. An article by the Catholic Citizens of Illinois and The Wanderer Press points out that Reisman believes that the 'treatments' given to predator priests in Kinsey-inspired therapy sessions were so grossly ineffective, that the Catholic Church and the victims of clerical...

Jesus was almost certainly a cannabis user and an early proponent of the medicinal properties of the drug, according to a study of scriptural texts published this month. The study suggests that Jesus and his disciples used the drug to carry out miraculous healings. The anointing oil used by Jesus and his disciples contained an ingredient called kaneh-bosem which has since been identified as cannabis extract, according to an article by Chris Bennett in the drugs magazine, High Times, entitled Was Jesus a Stoner? The incense used by Jesus in ceremonies also contained a cannabis extract, suggests Mr Bennett, who...

Christmas is the time in which more souls are released from further suffering in purgatory than at any other time. Remember to mention them in your prayer petitions today. And once they are released, they will pray for you from Heaven. Merry Christmas.

Here's a question for constitutional scholars: Can a sitting president be charged with plagiarism?

As President Bush wages his war against terrorism and moves to create a huge homeland security apparatus, he appears to be borrowing heavily, if not ripping off ideas outright, from George Orwell. The work in question is "1984, " the prophetic novel about a government that controls the masses by spreading propaganda, cracking down on subversive thought and altering history to suit its needs. It was intended to be read as a warning about the evils of totalitarianism -- not a how-to manual.

For over 70 years, Sister Lucy of Fatima has maintained constancy on the exact conditions Heaven demanded for the Conssecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to bring about the conversion of "that poor nation". But according to a communique issued on Dec.20,2001 by the Vatican Information Svc. (VIS), THAT'S ALL CHANGED. tHE vis reports of an alleged interview with Sr. Lucy by the Vatican's Archbishopp Bertone wherein, contrary to more than 7 decades of unchanging testimony, Lucy now allegedly declares 'the consecration that Our Lady desired was accomplished in 1984 and was accepted by Heaven". Faced with...

July 5, 2002 The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) has been used by colleges for many years to predict the success of students in college. Colleges have found SATs to be an effective tool in measuring college aptitude, that is, the ability to do college work. Since colleges are interested in admitting those students who will be successful in post-secondary work, the SAT has been one of the most widely used college aptitude tests in the nation. An aptitude test is different from an achievement test. An achievement test looks at what a student has accomplished. An aptitude test tries to...

Did anyone happen to hear a call from Jimmy from Brooklyn to Drudge? He said that just as the commies infiltrated the Catholic religion with liberation theology, the Russians have done the same with fundamentalist Islam. He then proceeded to read a sentense from an unsourced commie publication as evidence which said that subverting fundamentalist Islam is the perfect answer to capitalism. Next thing you know, he was cut off. Did anyone hear this, and can you shed any light on this?

Advertisment Compares Pro-Life Advocates to Terrorists Washington, DC -- In a new advertisement scheduled to appear today and tomorrow in two Washington, D.C. newspapers, the pro-abortion Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice labels pro-life advocates as "domestic religious terrorists" and compares pro-life people to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban. The ad blames pro-life advocates for letters containing anthrax threats sent to hundreds of abortion facilities over the last several weeks -- despite any clear evidence pointing to any credible pro-life groups or people. RCRC President Rev. Carlton Veazey states in the ad, "Like other extremists who cloak themselves in religion, ...

Jihadistan and Eco-terrorists By John D'Aloia, Jr. With so much of what is said today about Islam generated by anger, I went back to a 90-year old encyclopedia to see what it might say, not influenced by events of the 20th century. In a long and scholarly relation of historical context and description, the author wrote: "In matters political, Islam is a system of despotism at home and aggression abroad. The Prophet commanded absolute submission to the imâm. In no case was the sword to be raised against him. The rights of non-Moslem subjects are of the vaguest and most ...

I have a question. Did anyone hear Paul Harvey last Friday, Dec. 1? He talked about methane gas bubbling up from the sea bottom in places (caused by what-I don't know)to the extent that the density of the water was lowered actually causing a ship to sink(I believe around Scotland). Also, he said if one jumped in he would drop to the bottom. Was anyone listening and could you fill in the details as I was otherwise occupied and not paying much attention? Thanks.
