<p>New senator to be named Friday REPLACEMENT: Ben Stevens surprised he's on Murkowski's short list.</p> <p>Gov. Frank Murkowski will announce his choice Friday morning for the U.S. Senate seat he is vacating, his office said Wednesday.</p> <p>The governor this week told several unsuccessful candidates for the job that he has made his selection. Murkowski's spokesman John Manly declined to comment about who would be named.</p>

"They said, 'give us your wallet,' " said Hendricks. "I'm laying there, I wake up, open my eyes and there's two thugs. I said, 'you're kidding.' They said, 'no we're not kidding.' " Hendricks got out of bed to get his wallet, but reached for something else, a .22 caliber pistol."

<p>ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Ted Williams signed a pact with two of his children asking to be frozen after his death, according to court documents filed Thursday.</p> <p>Williams' signature, along with those of son John Henry and daughter Claudia, appears at the bottom of a handwritten note dated Nov. 2, 2000 -- more than three years after Williams signed a will requesting to be cremated.</p>
