In my humble opinion, America should not rely too heavily on the French as allies. In World War I, French troops were transported to the First Battle of the Marne in taxi cabs. (It's the conventional wisdom that many of the Parisian cabbies went over to the Germans after the French soldiers proved to be poor tippers.)
