Did Voters Chose To Continue Democratic Legacy Of Corruption In Illinois? Or Did Brady Lose Because He Did Not Distinguish Himself From His Democratic Foe? by Daniel T. Zanoza, Executive Director Let me preface this column by saying I voted for Bill Brady for Governor. I am the Republican Committeeman for Lincoln West 4 in Logan County. I distributed literature regarding the Brady campaign, including yard signs, etc. I know the State Senator from Bloomington personally. Brady had an excellent pro-family voting record in the Illinois State Senate. Brady recently conceded victory to incumbent Governor Pat Quinn. One of Quinn's...

At a fundraising event in Illinois, the old Solidarity union leader and former Polish president showed he had lost none of his passion for freedom fighting. Less than a week before TuesdayÂ’s midterm elections, Illinois conservatives welcomed an unlikely ally. Legendary Polish Solidarity leader, Lech Walesa, appeared in downtown Chicago last Thursday at a fundraising event organized by citizen watchdog group For the Good of Illinois. The former Polish president, trade-union organizer, and Nobel Prize laureate came rhetorically armed with a new Solidarity rallying-cry for Illinoisans yearning for new leadership. Before 300 conservative leaders and activists on Thursday, Walesa dourly remarked...

In an embarrassing campaign misstep, dozens of political commercials for GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady were yanked from the air Thursday because at least three Chicago television stations did not receive payment. Brady characterized the development five days before next Tuesday's election as a "glitch" that appeared to have gotten worked out late Thursday, allowing his ads to resume airing today. But the mistake cost Brady valuable air time and left the candidate, who has run on cleaning up Springfield's budgetary mess, explaining a financial gaffe of his own. "I understand there was a glitch with our media buyer," Brady...

Republican Bill Brady holds an eight-point lead over Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn in the four-way race for governor of Illinois. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Brady, a state senator, earning 45% of the vote to Quinn’s 37%. Democrat-turned-independent Scott Lee Cohen gets six percent (6%) support, and Green Party candidate Rich Whitney has the backing of two percent (2%). Another one percent (1%) favors another candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided. SPRINGFIELD — The state’s budget is in the tank. The voters are angry. And the Rod Blagojevich trial is starting all over again. It’s a great day to be a Republican in Illinois. Quoting one Illinois “poet,” state Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady told thousands of party faithful at the State Fair this opportunity is “Bleeping Golden!” A live band blasted the Twisted Sister song “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” as red, white and blue confetti was blasted into the air. A three-story American flag fluttered next to the stage in the summer heat. “Are you fired up?” U.S. Rep....

EDITOR'S NOTE: Phil Collins has a B.A. in political science. Collins was a full-time employee for the U.S. Senate campaigns of John Cox and John Borling. Collins is the executive director of the Illinois Center Right Coalition, and he founded the Republican Assembly of Northern Cook County. In 2008, Collins ran for delegate to the Republican National Convention, for Mike Huckabee, and he received almost 4,000 votes. That was more votes than a State Rep. (Suzie Bassi) and Lake County Clerk (Willard Helander), combined. Collins volunteered at Republican National Conventions in 1988, 1996, 2000 and 2008. Collins was in the...

Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn and his Republican challenger Bill Brady are aggressively duking it out for governor of Illinois, but the numbers in the race aren’t moving. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Brady with 47% of the vote, while Quinn chalks up 36% support. Eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and 10% remain undecided. The numbers have scarcely budged since early March when Brady was declared the winner of the GOP Primary by 193 votes out of 750,000 cast. In the first Rasmussen Reports survey after the state...

Not long ago, I asked someone, anyone, to take control of Bill Brady's gubernatorial campaign. It looks like my wish is fulfilled because Senator Brady has hired a new press secretary, and one with some major experience at that. The new media boss for Brady is one Patty Schuh, who has worked for the Illinois GOP for 25 years. Schuh started with the state party in 1985 and was until this month the press secretary and assistant to Senate GOP Leader Christine Radogno. Schuh also worked for James "Pate" Philip when he was president and minority leader of the Illinois...

Gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady was cornered by NBC Chicago News and asked his reaction to the shameful misuse of power by the Highland Park schools that last week announced that they were banning a girls basketball team from attending a tournament in Arizona. His first comment was a good one, one I'd like to see more often from our politicians. "I certainly respect the school district's right to make decisions, I believe in local control." That is exactly right. He went on to say, "just hope they haven't overstepped rationality in this case." Read the rest at Publiusforum.com...

Election Will Depend On Strong Support From Social Conservatives What I'm about to write may ruffle some feathers within the Republican Party, but I believe somethings need to be said regarding State Senator Bill Brady's Illinois gubernatorial campaign. Most of us who follow Illinois politics closely understand full well there is a rift between some of those in party leadership and members of the GOP who represent its conservative base. This divide has existed for years and, unfortunately, it has led to the defeat of many Republican candidates--some good, some bad. Even though I've followed Illinois politics for nearly twenty...

2 videos posted of Sarah Palin in Obama's home tuff (not Kenyan or Hawaii but Chicago). News reported 4,100 showed up to see Sarah Palin. The Governor also impressed Illinois’ top Republicans willing to spend $500 to $25,000 at a fund-raiser for the state party.

Democrats are already gearing up. They can't wait for the November elections to arrive. One of the Chicago blogs I check into, Marathon Pundit, ran an interesting post this weekend. I don't want to mention the writer's name and risk blowing his cover, but due to a DNC computer glitch, he received an invitation to attend an Organizing for America "training session" in Evanston, Illinois. Well, what have we here? After checking the box marked "Yes! You can count on me!" said blogger returned his RSVP. Then, wearing what he described as a "subtle disguise," he arrived at the session,...

CHICAGO - More than a month after the election and all the votes in the republican primary for Illinois governor have finally been counted. The State Board of Elections has released the official results from the race, and the winner is Bill Brady. The board has certified that the state senator from Bloomington beat fellow senator Kirk Dillard of Hinsdale by 193 votes. Dillard has said he would only seek a recount if Brady won by 100 votes or less. Brady now faces Governor Quinn in November.

In the last week, I received e-mails from a number of individuals regarding past votes by presumptive Illinois Republican gubernatorial nominee state Sen. Bill Brady. The e-mails included information which was taken from a liberal blog called The Chicago Lampoon (CL) which features a photo of comedic actor Bill Murray. The information within the e-mails I received concerned Brady recently introducing a bill to deny illegal immigrants state mortgage assistance. Now that sounds like a good thing, doesn't it? But the e-mails I received were not meant to paint Brady in a positive light. The information within these communications were...

SPRINGFIELD -- The GOP gubernatorial front-runner Wednesday proposed changing the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriages, make it more difficult to pass state tax increases, impose term limits on lawmakers and overhaul the process of redrawing legislative boundaries. "I'm trying to give the government back to the people," said Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington), when asked what the package says about him as a candidate for governor. The same-sex marriage prohibition would prohibit gay marriages and civil unions. Brady is proposing a 10-year limit on Illinois House and Senate members, who face no constraints now, and a two-thirds vote requirement in...

Yes, I know, Illinois ranks right up there with Louisiana and New Jersey as ... Well, I guess I won't go there. But after a week, the residents of my state still do not know who will be the Republican challenger in the November gubernatorial general election. Here are some facts. Illinois is one of the most populous states in the union. Chicago is our country's third largest city. There is a strong probability, the way trends are currently going, the GOP's nominee for governor, quite likely could end up in the Governor's mansion in Springfield. Now here's my question:...
