BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, a sharecropper’s son who rose to become a civil rights champion and the powerful chairman of one of the U.S. House committees leading an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, died Thursday of complications from longstanding health problems. He was 68.

PAY IT FORWARD: Paramedics with the Mehlville Fire Protection District were called to a South County home after a man fell from his roof and broke his leg while working to remove leaves. Paramedics returned to the home after transporting him to a nearby hospital and finished the project the man started - bagging up leaves in his yard. It gets better, an off-duty paramedic brought his personal trailer over to haul away the leaves for this family! What a great act of kindness we felt needed to be shared!
