The White House has confirmed that there has been a complete disconnect between the Palestinian Authority and the Trump administration. Former US secretary of state John Kerry met in London with a close associate of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, Hussein Agha. Stall, play for time, do not break. Trump will not remain in office for a long, within a year Trump would not be in the White House. Kerry offered to help Sheppard his alternative peace initiative and promised to help garner international support from Europeans, Arab states and the international community. He promised to use all his contacts and...

Show availability of Iran for al Qaeda training, plotting. This week, prosecutors in New York introduced eight documents recovered in Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan as evidence in the trial of a terrorism suspect. The U.S. government accuses Abid Naseer of taking part in al Qaeda’s scheme to attack targets in Europe and New York City. The files do not support the view, promoted by some in the Obama administration, that bin Laden was in “comfortable retirement,” “sidelined,” or “a lion in winter” in the months leading up to his death. Some of the key revelations in the newly-released...

Barack Obama's real thinking about Israel and the Middle East continues to be an enigma. The words he chose in an address to AIPAC create a different impression than the composition of his foreign policy advisory team. Several advisors have evidenced a history of suspicion and worse toward Israel. One of his advisors in particular, Robert Malley, clearly warrants attention, as does the reasoning that led him to being chosen by Barack Obama. A little family history may be in order to understand the genesis of Robert Malley's views. Normally, one should be reluctant in exploring a person's family background...

Sometimes you get to wondering about emails you receive -- especially in the political blogsphere. One email which ended up in my inbox has got me to thinking: Is this a legitimate email, a plea for help from genuine Iranian dissidents, some crazy rant/fatwa by Islamists, or yet another in a string of Internet scams? I've been receiving emails over the last month from "goftare nik" (moslem11@gmail.com) which is addressed to hamahd19@yahoo.com, a mailing list which must somehow contain my own email address. The subject line of the email is "(( raahbare mellate iran agha pro.ebrahim mirzaie))," which obviously pertains...

Taliban hang Afghan tribal chief Sat Jul 16, 2005 Taliban guerrillas hanged a pro-government tribal chief in the troubled southern Afghan province of Zabul, accusing him of being an American spy, officials said on Saturday. Malik Agha's killing was the fifth in the past six weeks and came as violence mounts in the run up to the Sept. 18 parliamentary elections that the Taliban have vowed to disrupt. Agha was kidnapped on Friday by Taliban remnants as he came out of a mosque in Atghar district of Zabul and was hanged in a tree, district chief Gul Habib said. Agha...

Pakistan's security forces say they have captured the leader of the Afghan militant group which kidnapped three United Nations workers in late October. Syed Mohammad Akbar Agha, the head of the Army of Muslims, was captured ten days ago in a raid in the southern port city of Karachi. His detention was not disclosed earlier to prevent other members of the group from escaping. However, the Pakistani authorities did not say whether other militants have been arrested since. The three UN workers--a man from the Philippines, and two women from Kosovo and Northern Ireland--were abducted in late October in the...

KABUL, Afghanistan - Taliban supreme commander Mullah Mohammed Omar has held a meeting with other Taliban leaders to reorganize their resurgent campaign against U.S. forces and the Afghan government, a purported spokesman for the group said Sunday. The spokesman, who said his name was Sayed Hamid Agha, telephoned Associated Press reporters in Afghanistan and Pakistan and read out a statement. "Over the last few days we established a shura (council) under the leadership of Mullah Omar," Agha said. "The shura appointed four committees — military, political, cultural and economic to regulate all relevant matters." One of the two AP reporters...
