The Big Apple’s staggering surge in shootings amid the COVID-19 pandemic has led nearly 9,000 terrified New Yorkers to apply for gun permits — but the NYPD has signed off on fewer than 1,100, The Post has learned. The 8,088 applications for first-time pistol and rifle permits submitted since March 22 - when coronavirus-related restrictions went into effect - represent a threefold-plus increase over the 2,562 submitted between March 22 and Dec. 31, 2019, NYPD statistics obtained by The Post this week show. But only 1,087 applications were approved, far less than the 1,778 granted during the same period last...

Gov. Northam says decision to revisit a gun ban in 2021 would be 'up to the discretion of the legislature'Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam and other state Democratic lawmakers have appeared to slow their efforts to ban assault weapons in the state.Virginia's Democrat-controlled Senate last January rejected Northam's bill to ban assault weapons, including some semiautomatic rifles, and voted to take up the matter again in a year.Nearly one year later, Northam, whose term expires in 2022, told WRIC on Monday that he'll leave the decision to revisit a gun ban "up to the discretion of the legislature.""Whatever they do,...

oe Biden’s official website lays out a sleuth of anti-gun policies they would like to push through. The most popular of these proposals is the push to ban assault rifles. Of course, they cannot actually want to ban assault rifles seeing as they are already banned. Automatic rifles were banned in the 80s during the Reagan administration. When they say assault rifles, they mean semi-automatic rifles. They also want a ban on high-capacity magazines. To gun owners, a high-capacity magazine might mean 45+ rounds in a magazine. 30 rounds are standard on many magazines, like those of the AR-15 and...

Americans bought a record number of firearms in 2020 amid a year that challenged our conventional wisdom about civil liberties, showed us the delicate balance between law and order and even strained the country’s supply chains. While gun sales generally increase in presidential election years, 2020 has been one for the record books, and it still isn’t over. President Donald Trump has vowed to continue fighting to challenge the Nov. 3 election results that show he lost to Democrat Joe Biden in a number of key swing states. Additionally, many states still have their residents under the thumb of some...

They are the strongest opponents of defunding the police, but now, conservatives are carving out an exception — the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Long considered anti-gun, the agency has provoked alarm with Second Amendment advocates due to the agency’s recent targeting of gunmakers, including a raid this month on a producer of so-called "ghost guns" and this week’s targeting of AR-15-style pistols. With President-elect Joe Biden poised to unleash new gun control measures, fears are heightened that ATF will be the tip of the spear. Marjorie Taylor Greene ... 10 years ago today, U.S. Border Patrol...

Americans know that they should resist delusional, prohibitionist tyrants. The American Revolution started when the British tried to seize Continental muskets and gunpowder. Jefferson reminded us that the “tree of liberty” occasionally has to be “watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Patrick Henry demanded liberty or death. Samuel Adams refused to consent to the “tranquility of servitude” over the “animating contest of freedom.” Real Americans remember those patriots and are determined to uphold their legacies. We won’t surrender our weapons to confiscatory, leftist tyrants. That’s why gun confiscation is impossible. People like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want...

Austin, TX – Texas lawmakers are considering a bill that would require homeowners to “retreat” before using deadly force in certain situations. Under Texas’ “castle doctrine,” citizens have the right to use deadly force to defend their “land or tangible, movable property,” KPRC reported. House Bill 196, filed by Rep. Terry Meza (D-Irving) earlier this month, would require homeowners to be “unable to safely retreat” before they could legally use deadly force against a perpetrator. Property owners would also no longer be able to use deadly force to stop aggravated robbery or robbery crimes under the bill, according to KPRC....

Joe Biden plans to move quickly against guns, adding the issue to his list of first executive orders, according to his top policy aide. Stef Feldman, the national policy director of Biden's presidential campaign, included the Democrat’s gun plan in a list of initial executive actions set to be unleashed after Inauguration Day. Speaking in a Zoom briefing hosted by Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service, she said that Biden is planning to “make big, bold changes through executive action, not just on policing and climate like we talked about previously, but in healthcare and education on gun...

A Brit’s perspective of the turmoil festering in America – Author Unknown at this time This was written by a self-identified “outsider”. His perspective is well worth the time it takes to read this. OK, the first thing to say is to apologize for the sheer cheek of some upstart limey like me commenting on the election in America, but I have to say something because I am sitting here in shocked astonishment looking at what appears to be an engineered tyrannical coup d’état against not just President Trump but against the very ideal of democracy itself. I’m not going...

During the December 6, 2020, Georgia Senate debate, Kelly Loeffler (R) noted that Democrats want to take some guns and tax others, and she suggested Raphael Warnock (D) is their “agent of change” to accomplish these things. Loeffler talked about the important role the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate plays as a “shock absorber,” absorbing and stopping the gun control legislation that comes out of the Democrat-controlled House. She urged Georgia voters to vote for her and Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) in order to keep that shock absorption in place, warning that “radical” Warnock would serve as an “agent of change” for...

America’s recent election and the COVID-19 pandemic fueled a gun-buying binge that continued in November, making 2020 into the top year ever for firearms sales — by a country mile. The FBI reported today that it recorded a 42% surge in background checks for firearms in November. Last month, it conducted 3.6 million. In November 2019, it was 2.5 million. And already this year, the FBI has recorded 35.7 million background checks. In all of record-setting 2019, there were 28.3 million checks.(Screenshot via FBI)That means 2020 background checks for guns are already 25% over last year, and there is still a month...

Why is the 2nd Amendment important? Because the 2nd Amendment is the one that guarantees all of the others. Sure, we need to defend free speech because without it we can’t express ideas (good or bad) openly or criticize the government. But can it back itself up on its own? No, if we had only the 1st Amendment but not the 2nd, we could lose our right to free speech at any moment. The government could simply take it away. Just look at what is happening in Hong Kong; when its citizens tried to exercise their human right to free...

Democrats filed a barrage of gun control bills for the upcoming legislative session in Texas. Each bill attacks the constitutionally granted rights from various angles. From the "assault weapons" ban to the universal background checks and the red flag laws, each bill intends to undermine the self-defense capabilities of Texans. However, a very worrying piece of legislation was introduced by Irving State Representative Terry Meza. HB 196 seeks to repeal the Castle Doctrine, preventing a homeowner from using firearms to defend their property. She believes that homeowners are too eager to pull the trigger when facing armed home invaders."I'm not condoning stealing,...

Neither is going to happen.Joe Biden’s gun-control plans have about zero chance of getting through Congress, especially if Republicans win at least one of the Georgia runoffs. That’s good, because his bright idea for restricting “assault weapons” would force America’s gun owners to choose between (a) giving up millions of their firearms and magazines to a federal “buyback” and (b) registering those guns with the federal government, paying billions of dollars in taxes for the privilege.Any guesses as to how that would play out in this country? As many readers may be old enough to remember, America had a ban on...

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – The head of the gun-rights group that organized a rally that drew 22,000 people to the state Capitol in January said a similar event won’t happen next year, claiming that a “double standard” allowed gun-control advocates to book the majority of time slots for Lobby Day. Philip Van Cleave, the president of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, told members of the organization in a message this week that when he tried to apply for the 11 a.m. slot for next year’s Lobby Day, a tradition that gives citizens an opportunity to share issues they find important...

“If violent crime is to be curved, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim.” For those of you that don’t know, Lt Col Jeff Cooper was a US Marine best known for developing “modern” handgun shooting techniques and for his knowledge of small arms. And I think that this quote by Lt Col Jeff Cooper on curbing violent crime shows exactly why he was such a large cultural force in the firearms...

Democrat Senate candidate Jon Ossoff (GA) is endorsed by the Mike Bloomberg-founded gun control group, Everytown for Gun Safety. Everytown originally announced its endorsement of Ossoff on September 15, 2020, then re-announced it following the development of a January 5, 2021, runoff between Ossoff and pro-Second Amendment Senator David Perdue (R-GA). On November 8, 2020, Everytown posted their announcement of support for Ossoff in the runoff, making clear their backing includes the support of Bloomberg gun control subsidiary, Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety. Everytown’s John Feinblatt said, “David Perdue…[has] declared fealty to the gun lobby and opposed bipartisan gun...

A grand jury in Santa Clara, California, has issued an indictment accusing Apple’s chief security officer, Thomas Moyer, of offering bribes to secure concealed carry permits for Apple employees. Moyer allegedly promised to donated 200 iPads worth $70,000 to the sheriff’s office in exchange for four concealed carry licenses “withheld from Apple employees,” according to a press release from the Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen. “Tom Moyer is innocent of the charges filed against him. He did nothing wrong and has acted with the highest integrity throughout his career. We have no doubt he will be acquitted at trial,”...
