THE Hubble space telescope has been taken offline with all observations halted until further notice. The Nasa team behind the $1.5billion contraption said that it was placed into "safe mode" at 4pm ET (9pm GMT) on Sunday due to a software bug. The telescope, which orbits about 547 kilometers (340 miles) above Earth, is not in danger of shutting down permanently, according to the official Hubble Twitter account. "All science systems appear normal and Hubble is safe and stable," the account tweeted on Monday. "The team is working [on] plans to safely return it to normal science operations." Launched in...

Cupich Wrecking BallFleecing the flockAt a press conference protesting church closings, Julie Sawicki said, "The Catholic churches in the Chicagoland area do not belong to the archdiocese. They belong to humanity. They belong to us."Faithful Catholics in the archdiocese of Chicago are protesting the closure of their parishes. Parishioners at some 25 parishes have filed appeals to the Vatican to preserve their right to maintain their historical churches. Sawicki continues, "After talking with folks who are undergoing these church closures and church mergers, we realized that we all have to work together."Clergy in the hierarchy promote the ironically named "Renew...

Ditching Amazon Prime and looking for alternative websites to purchase things. For example, I now get most of my clothing directly from LL Bean. What is a good place to buy books online? I still buy a lot of books. An obvious choice is Barnes & Noble but looking to see if there are any other book-buying websites I should be aware of.

For at least two species of sea slug, decapitation is no big deal. After purposefully severing its head, a sacoglossan sea slug can regrow its entire body, heart and all. Scientists observed the phenomenon -- detailed Monday in the journal Current Biology -- while studying the development of the marine invertebrates, from eggs to adult sea slugs. In the lab, researchers noticed the head of a sacoglossan sea slug moving around without its body. "We were surprised to see the head moving just after autotomy," lead author Sayaka Mitoh, a doctoral candidate at Nara Women's University in Japan, said in...

University of Arizona researcher Jekan Thanga...solar-powered ark on the moon would store cryogenically frozen seed, spore, sperm and egg samples from 6.7 million Earth species. Scientists discovered a network of about 200 lava tubes just beneath the moon’s surface in 2013.... This network of lunar lava tubes are about 100 meters in diameter. Untouched for an estimated 3 billion to 4 billion years, they could provide shelter from solar radiation, micrometeorites and surface temperature changes. The mission concept builds on another project Thanga and his group previously proposed, in which miniature flying and hopping robots called SphereX enter a lava...

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A 35-year-old woman was arrested Sunday for driving under the influence with a child in the car. The Wisconsin State Patrol says this is her 4th offense. The situation at the border is getting worse, specifically regarding the number of migrant children in custody, and the responsibility for that lies solely with Joe Biden and his pursuit of absolutely terrible policies that are encouraging a surge of illegal immigration. Despite that, Jen Psaki decided to make some ridiculous claims in today’s presser, clearly believing that those listening are morons. In the process, she also made it clear that we don’t really have a president. The following clips are just mind-blowing in their level of dishonesty and buck-passing. When asked about why illegal immigrants are flooding the border,...

Washington: A new study suggests that the Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine can protect people against the concerning coronavirus variant first identified in Brazil. According to a report by CNN, blood serum samples from people who had received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine "efficiently" neutralized a version of the virus engineered to carry the same mutations as the variant, known as the P.1. For the study, published by the New England Journal of Medicine on Monday, researchers at Pfizer, BioNTech and the University of Texas Medical Branch genetically engineered the virus to create versions carrying mutations found in a range of...

Donald Trump on Tuesday released a statement on the crisis at the border. Joe Biden reversed Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, promised amnesty, and allowed unaccompanied migrant children into the US which caused a surge of illegal border crossings in the last several weeks. Biden is also flooding the US with Covid-infected illegal aliens. Several reporters asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the border crisis and she spun like a top and passed the blame onto the DHS. Trump blasted the Democrats for destroying the country with dangerous open borders policies. “When I was President, our Southern border...

The Archbishop of Toronto is calling on parishioners to contact their representatives about using a percentage of capacity instead of an arbitrary number to limit COVID-19 restrictions at churches, saying the current rules impose “inequities facing our faith communities.” “The province has relaxed restrictions in Grey (Lockdown) regions, with retailers permitted to operate at 25 percent capacity. Yet places of worship, regardless of whether they seat 100 or 1,000 people, must remain at a hard cap of 10 people,” Cardinal Thomas Collins wrote in a letter (pdf) to parishioners on March 5. “Next week, a funeral at St. Michael’s Cathedral...

President Joe Biden, who has been vaccinated from the novel Wuhan coronavirus since early January, wore two masks inside a Washington D.C. small business Tuesday. The two-dose Pfizer coronavirus vaccine, which Biden was administered his second shot of on Jan. 11, works far better at stopping the virus than masks or lockdowns, boasting a 95 percent efficacy rating for individuals aged 16 and older. By double-masking after being vaccinated and demanding all Americans wear masks regardless of immunity status, Biden is insinuating that the Pfizer vaccine won’t protect him but masks will. The aggressive pursuit for religious mask wearing, even...

Milo Yiannopoulos, the gay man whose conservative messaging and willingness to speak the truth sparked riots on university campuses may well trigger more outrage now that he describes himself as “Ex-Gay” and “sodomy free,” and is leading a daily consecration to St. Joseph online. Two years ago, when Church Militant’s Michael Voris famously challenged Yiannopoulos to live a chaste life, Yiannopoulos was not defensive. Instead, he acquiesced, and humbly admitted his human weakness. “I know everything you’re saying, and I’m just not there yet. And I don’t know if I’ll get there,” Yiannopoulos told Voris at the time. It seems...

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that President Biden’s name will not appear on stimulus checks that will be sent to many Americans after the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill is passed. The decision represents a break with the previous administration, as former President Trump's name appeared on stimulus checks sent by the Internal Revenue Service to millions of Americans.“We are doing everything in our power to expedite the payments and not delay them, which is why the president’s name will not appear on the memo line of this round of [stimulus] checks,” Psaki told reporters at an afternoon...

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has urged "criminals" involved in a massive voter fraud conspiracy to contact him for help in arranging reduced prison sentences. Lindell, a proponent of the baseless theory that the 2020 presidential was "stolen" from former President Donald Trump, made the remarks during an appearance on The Charlie Kirk Show podcast that was released on Friday. Lindell promised that a flood of evidence validating the theory would soon emerge, while offering to help cut deals similar to "the old mafia days" for those involved in the purported plot. "There will be a big surprise of evidence," Lindell...

Iraq: Pope’s Trip Leaves Collateral DamageMuslims mock Francis' visit as surrender to Islamic supremacyERBIL, Iraq (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pope Francis' Iraq trip has triggered a tidal wave of mockery on social media, with Muslims gleefully announcing that the pontiff has surrendered to Islamic supremacy, an Iraqi Muslim convert has told Church Militant. When the CDC issued its latest set of pandemic guidelines, many were disappointed, to put it mildly. The revised rules were particularly wishy-washy on the subject of reopening the schools, leaving far too much wiggle room for the teacher’s unions to keep them closed far into the future, or running virtual learning instead of going back to the classrooms. What Dr. Fauci and the leaders of the CDC probably didn’t count on was being challenged based on the science that they were supposedly relying on to guide them. And the challenge in question isn’t coming from any armchair quarterbacks, either....
