After they were eventually shamed into covering the Kermit Gosnell trial - many in the media admitted they should have covered it earlier and more vigorously. Some of the more honest journalists and outlets also admitted they had not reported on it because of their biases and reluctance to write about a story that shines a negative spotlight on abortion. But that was then and this is now, they said. We will do better next time, they promised.Well the next time has arrived and passed and the media has again completely ignored a truly shocking story about abortion. The Senate...

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that abandoning or damaging it would “condemn future generations to untold suffering.” “This is a rare and precious achievement that we should nurture and guard fiercely,” he said of the climate change agreement and its global endorsement in record time. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., rejected calls from a bipartisan group of senators to create a select committee on cyberattacks to investigate possible Russian interference in the American election. McConnell, in a sit-down interview with Kentucky Educational Television that aired Monday night, called the allegations of Russian hacking "a serious issue" but one that "doesn't require" a special committee to run the inquiry. He also suggested that only one panel, the Intelligence Committees in the House and Senate, needs to focus on such an investigation.

The Obama administration will use a legal strategy crafted by environmental activists to remove sections of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans from future offshore drilling lease sales, according to two sources familiar with the plan told Bloomberg. For months, environmentalists have been urging President Barack Obama to use Section 12(a) of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, a 1953 law governing offshore drilling, in a way it’s never been used before — to block offshore drilling leases in the Atlantic Ocean and the Chukchi and Beaufort seas.

Contrary to the expectations of many people, President-elect Donald Trump has been filling his cabinet with serious, no-nonsense conservatives. The Left will confront appointees who would make Ronald Reagan proud. None may be more important than Jeff Sessions as Attorney General. Commitment to the rule of law always has set America apart from most other nations. The U.S. doesn’t always get it right. But we strive toward the ideal of a government of laws rather than men. After eight years of the Obama administration, the next attorney general will need to start on day one to restore respect for...

Why Did the Second Person of the Trinity Become Incarnate Rather Than the Father or the Holy Spirit? Msgr. Charles Pope • December 19, 2016 • As we continue to await the fast-approaching Feast of Holy Christmas, it is good to ponder some aspects of the Incarnation. Among the questions for us to consider is why it was the Son, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, that became incarnate, rather than the Father or the Holy Spirit. Most people have never even thought of this question let alone sought to answer it. God could have chosen many different ways...

While becoming a Christian, I was given a lot of space to figure out what needed to change in my life. No one handed me a stern list of my sins. No one suggested that I discern ways of minimizing the gap between my life and the demands of the gospel, either. Traditional Christian morality, for me, was treasure hidden in a field (with map and digging implements provided), not moral nourishment force-fed to me while I was strapped helplessly to a gurney. In a similar vein, I know priests who vocally support maintaining the prohibition on divorced and remarried...

Back in early 2015, oil and gas company ConocoPhillips requested a permit from the Obama administration to launch an oil-drilling project in Alaska. The energy project, called the Greater Mooses Tooth development, is located within the National Petroleum Reserve and would create thousands of jobs in an economically depressed area of the state. The project has the full approval of the local community and poses little threat to the environment in a sparsely populated region. It is a multibillion-dollar jobs-and-infrastructure project with roads and housing and pipelines. It won't cost the federal taxpayers a penny to build. In fact, the...

I haven't said too much about this election since the results....but this is how I feel.... I'm noticing that a lot of "YOU" aren't graciously accepting the fact that your candidate lost. In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those who voted for Trump. Some of you are apparently "triggered" because you are posting how "sick" you feel about the results. How did this happen you ask? Well, here's how: You created "us" when you attacked our freedom of speech. You created "us" when you attacked our right to bear arms. You created "us" when...

“Trying to understand some people’s thinking is like trying to smell the color 9.” -Unknown Politics is no longer about Democrats vs Republicans or liberals vs conservatives, it’s not even irrational vs rational anymore, but rather has degenerated to amoral vs moral. For example, abortion used to be an unconscionable idea or at the very least a serious moral dilemma, yet now it is so readily accepted as a solution that it is plastered on T-shirts as if it were a badge of courage. Honest men who observe crime at first confront it; once honest men have been around crime...
