Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) criticized President Biden’s decision to cancel $10,000 of student loan debt for borrowers making less than $125,000 annually, calling it a “wildly unfair redistribution” of wealth in favor of higher-earning Americans. McConnell said in a statement on Twitter on Wednesday that the move is a “slap in the face” to those in the workforce who made sacrifices to pay off their debt, as well as those who made different career choices to avoid student debt.

Since ascending to the position of most powerful man in China back in 2012, President Xi Jinping has demanded that Communist Party members and non-members alike study the Communist Manifesto and other Marxist texts. Now, he's reintroducing some good ol' fashioned communism into his ruling policies. On Tuesday, Chinese media reported that President Xi had put the country's wealthiest citizens "on notice" that he was planning some redistributive policies to aid in the "common prosperity". These policies will include income "regulation and redistribution", according to Xinhua.During a Tuesday meeting of the Communist Party's Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs,...

To equally incentivize savers regardless of what they earn, Biden proposes a credit of approximately 26% to replace the deduction savers get for putting money in a 401(k) plan, according to the Tax Policy Center’s analysis. “The biggest thing that stands out to me, by contrast to other proposals, is that it limits the benefit for the highest earners and gives the benefit to the lowest earners,” said Jeffrey Levine, CPA and director of advanced planning at Buckingham Wealth Partners in Long Island, New York. “It’s a true redistribution of wealth proposal,” he said.

While exploring a run for president in Nevada, Mayor Bill de Blasio endorsed a committee to study reparations for descendants of slaves and then went further — saying that the country needs “a program of actual redistribution” of wealth. A progressive activist asked the mayor his position on reparations at an event in Las Vegas Friday following the endorsement of the compensation plan by other presidential contenders like Elizabeth Warren. “There’s no question that the issue of reparations has to be taken seriously,” said de Blasio, whose Vegas area barnstorming continues today, stating a clear, public position on the topic...

'The Young Turks' commentator Hasan Piker explains why 'billionaire' is a dirty word and warned that a more equitable redistribution of wealth is coming, "by policy or by pitchforks." HASAN PIKER, THE YOUNG TURKS: Technological advances have rendered globalism an unstoppable force so we have to adapt to it. One immediate way of doing that is through drastic wealth redistribution and that starts with banning billionaires. Part of the point of having a society, of having government is to "promote the general welfare." Welfare -- it's literally right there in the preamble in the Constitution. Yet for some reason, we've...

It's a sad day in the great socialist pyramid of lefty scams that is the Sanderverse as the scammers got scammed by scammers. The political nonprofit launched by Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2016 lost nearly a quarter-million dollars to an email scam that year, according to new tax documents obtained by POLITICO. Our Revolution “was the victim of a Business E-Mail Compromise scam that took place in December 2016 but was not discovered until January 2017, resulting in the loss of approximately $242,000 via an electronic transfer of funds to an overseas account,” the group disclosed in its tax forms...

Northeastern Illinois University philosophy professor Tyler Zimmer claims that “wealth redistribution” could boost “sexual fulfillment” in the U.S. In an op-ed published by Slate last week, Zimmer argues that “a few conservative commentators” are starting to “warm up” to the idea of making a “full-throated case for [wealth] redistribution,” claiming they are motivated by “the rise of the violent ‘incel.’”

Rep. Tim Ryan (D., Ohio) said Thursday that the Democratic Party is headed in the right direction after its November loss, but can no longer only be the "party of redistribution of wealth." MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-host Willie Geist asked Ryan if he felt the Democratic Party learned its lesson from the 2016 presidential election loss after seeing blue states go red. Ryan said he believes Democrats are "taking steps in the right direction," and what they need to do is focus on the American job market and economy right now. "We have to say, look, we're the party to...

Flashback: Fact-Free 'Middle-Out Economics' (Leftist Dream of Redistribution Over Wealth Creation)

It’s a new term for the old leftist dream of redistribution over wealth creation. President Obama has finally stopped blaming George W. Bush for America’s current economic mess. Now it’s Ronald Reagan’s fault. Obama didn’t use those exact words or make that explicit claim in his Knox College speech last week, but that’s the gist of it. The Great Recession and its slow-growth, high-unemployment aftermath are really just the culmination of three decades of pro-market economic policies that favored the rich at the expense of the middle class. Here’s how Obama rewrites economic history: The shared national purpose of World...

With all the outrage about growing economic inequality one might think that there’d also be growing support for wealth redistribution—policies that include hiking taxes for the wealthy or increasing aid to the poor. But a new working paper from NBER suggests that by and large, America’s desire to see wealth spread around more evenly hasn’t really increased that much at all in the past 30 years. And in fact members of some of the most vulnerable economic groups are actually less supportive of efforts that would boost the economic standing of the less well-off than they once were. The topic...

A high UN official has admitted the real reason for the climate hysteria: to transform the world economy, redistributing income between from rich nations to poorer ones. Christiana Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), warned that the fight against climate change is a process and that the sought-after transformation of the world economy will not be decided at one conference or in one agreement.

Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe criticized President Barack Obama’s doubling down on fighting global warming Tuesday night, arguing that the president’s planned climate regulations was simply “a wealth redistribution scheme.” “Why the pain for no gain?” Inhofe asked in a rebuttal to Obama’s State of the Union speech. ”As The Wall Street Journal put it when reporting on just one of the president’s many climate regulations, this is a wealth redistribution scheme being imposed by the president through the EPA.” “This is the real climate agenda the president chose not to address tonight. It is no wonder because it would...
