A former seminary student has filed a $2 million lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, Bishop William Murphy and top officials of its seminary, charging they promoted what he called "pro-homosexual teachings in contradiction to authentic Roman Catholic doctrine.
William Downey, a 57-year-old retired Manhasset businessmen, said he was expelled from the master's in theology program for lay men and women at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington after threatening to publicize his complaints that the seminary was teaching now-discredited moral ideas. He also complained that professors distributed what he described as "lewd and pro-homosexual materials, including a pamphlet advertising books that affirmed gay and lesbian Christians.

So what else is new? Rome has known about this for decades. There have been gay dances on church property where gays dance cheek-to-cheek; gay symposiums sponsored by most American dioceses and attended by priests and bishops which actively promote the gay lifestyle; gay Masses and even, in the Netherlands, gay weddings. We're still waiting for this so-called ban on gay seminarians that's supposed to come out any day now. Aa usual they flew the trial balloon, but haven't followed it with any action. Same old same old.
Most Catholics don't want to believe this Pope is part of the problem--but he is. He only gets exercised with traditionalist seminaries apparently. He tried to shut down the Econe years ago. Too many straight, pious, orthodox men, I suppose. He recently fired some theologians at the traditionalist FSSP seminary in PA on a trumped-up charge of "not thinking with the conciliar Church". God forbid a seminarian should say a Rosary or make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament. But the gays go on forever.

Most Catholics don't want to believe this Pope is part of the problem--but he is. Why blame the Pope? He is the Vicar of Christ. He was placed in his position of authority by Christ and exercises Christ's authority.
If anyone is to blame it is Jesus Christ himself.
Or maybe this whole "Catholic Church" concept is suspect???

"In the year 1864, Lucifer together with a large number of demons will be unloosed from hell; they will put an end to faith little by little, even in those dedicated to God. Woe to the Princes of the Church who think only of piling riches to protect their authority and dominate with pride. The Vicar of my Son will suffer a great deal, because for a while the Church will yield to large persecution, a time of darkness, and the Church will witness a frightful crisis....
Rome will lose the faith and become the seat of the Antichrist. For now is the time of all times, the end of all ends. The Church will be in eclipse, the world will be in dismay....Now is the time; the abyss is opening. Here is the king of kings of darkness, here is the Beast with his subjects, calling himself the savior of the world."...

He wrote [bishop] Murphy several times, but was unable to get a meeting with him. "They're teaching something that's obviously wrong and they won't fix it, and then they threw me out because I kept bringing it up, he said.
Sorry Mr. Downey. Bishop Murphy is too busy kicking old nuns out of their home to build himself a mansion...

Why blame the Pope? He is the Vicar of Christ. You hit the nub. This is not about the liturgy or church discipline but about the legitimacy of the pope. They have anti-pope on the brain.

Stupid logicEither the Pope is the "Vicar of Christ" or he is not. If he is, he is not to be doubted, if he is not, Catholicism is a farce!
It never ceases to amaze me that millions of Catholics are lobbying the Pope to make the changes they desire. Change the liturgy this way, make Mary co-redemptrix, allow married priests, ban gay priests, make Catholicism more modern, return to traditional "Pre-Vatican II" Catholicism, etc. He is supposedly "Christ on earth", he is infallible, guaranteed by the Holy Spirit. Why would someone who believes all that stuff attempt to sway his decisions???????
