There will be a Focus Session at the NACDLGM National Conference 2000 entitled "Using Always Our Children," which will be given by Fr. Raymond C. Kellerman of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Fr. Raymond C. Kellerman and Fr. Michael Leshney are the spiritual directors for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Catholic Ministry with Gays and Lesbians, part of the Archdiocese's Family Life Office. (Fr. Kellerman is the pastor of Holy Trinity - Norwood (Hamilton County), Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Fr. Leshney is the pastor of SS. Peter and Paul - Reading (Hamilton County), Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Archbishop Pilarczyk might be sending Bishop Moeddel and Fr. Kellerman to do his dirty work this time, but as Michael Rose reports in the St. Catherine Review, he created his own mischief by railroading the document "Always Our Children" through the USCCB.

Although "Always Our Children" is a committee document that has no real authority, every "gay friendly" bishop in this country hides behind it to justify their "Gay Ministries."

BTW, the Resource Director for the NACDLGM is Fr. James Schexnayder of Oakland, California. In the same St. Catherine Review article linked above, Michael Rose says the following about Fr. Schexnayder:

Fr. Shexnayder is president of the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries, director of the Diocese of Oakland’s HIV/AIDS services, and coordinator of the diocese’s Task Force for Outreach to Gay and Lesbian Communities. He owns a private home in Oakland with the former chairman of Dignity San Francisco, a gay-rights group which agitates for Church acceptance of homosexual relationships, sometimes even resorting to sacrilegious pranks. In June, 1994, following the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered Parade in San Francisco, Fr. Shexnayder celebrated a Mass for the Catholic participants in the event, giving Communion to all. In his homily that day he stated: "We must not let our homophobic society confine our homosexuality to the bedroom… Our homosexuality must burst forth from the bedroom and leaven all of society."

Your Excellency:

According to the website of the National Council of Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries, the 2002 national conference of that organization will be held within your Diocese this year. The Mission Statement of the NCDLGM urges those in ministry to "reflect on Sacred Scripture, reflect on Church teaching and pastoral practice, study the social and physical sciences, listen to and ponder the lived experience of lesbian and gay persons and their families... and affirms that all who are baptized are called to full participation in the life, worship and mission of the church."

As a Prince of the Church, you no doubt already know that according to our Catechism [2357] homosexual acts are "acts of grave depravity", which "tradition has always declared" to be "'intrinsically disordered'" and "contrary to the natural law." They "close the sexual act to the gift of life... They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity", and "under no circumstances can they be approved." The Catechism of the Catholic Church further defines "masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices" to be "Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity" [2396].

From this we see clearly that the Church infallibly teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin -- the sin of sodomy. To deny that sodomy is a sin is itself a sin: either that of incredulity, "the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it"; heresy, "the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or... an obstinate doubt concerning the same"; or schism, "the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him." Since revealed Truth and the Holy Father both define sodomy as sin, those who participate in, fantasize about, promote, or condone sodomy or other such behaviors are, therefore, guilty of sin.

However, while Baptism indeed saves us from the stain of Original Sin, "the forgiveness of sins committed after Baptism is conferred by a particular sacrament called the sacrament of conversion, confession, penance, or reconciliation... To return to communion with God after having lost it through sin is a process born of the grace of God who is rich in mercy and solicitous for the salvation of men. One must ask for this precious gift for oneself and for others. The movement of return to God, called conversion and repentance, entails sorrow for and abhorrence of sins committed, and the firm purpose of sinning no more in the future" [1486-1490].

With this in mind, I submit to Your Excellency that the only legitimate ministry the Church may offer to those poor souls afflicted with the disordered desire for same-sex intimate relations is the call to repent. In other words, the Church can only permit "full participation in the life, worship and mission of the church" to those persons who feel "sorrow for and abhorrence of" their homosexual acts, and who possess "the firm purpose of sinning no more in the future."

In short: only those homosexuals who recognize that homosexuality is a sin and who are determined to live chastely and in godly celibacy should be allowed to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the other Sacraments of the Church.

In closing, I remind Your Excellency that "Sacrilege consists in profaning or treating unworthily the sacraments and other liturgical actions, as well as persons, things, or places consecrated to God. Sacrilege is a grave sin especially when committed against the Eucharist, for in this sacrament the true Body of Christ is made substantially present for us" [2120]. Anyone who knowingly offers the life-giving Body and Blood of Christ to an unrepentant homosexual is therefore guilty of that sin.

I beg you to reconsider your participation (and implicit approval) of the National Council of Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries.

We need to keep pressing for it to be addressed so that when the USCCB meets again in November it will be impossible for them to avoid the topic of the lavendar mafia and the homosexual deathstyle culture in the hierarchy of the American Church.

In the light of recent problems re homosexuality and pedophilia re the priesthood, I am extremely surprised at who is presenting at this conference. The arrogance of these people is astounding.

A quote from the USCCB's pastoral letter Always Our Children, which is on the Dignity USA website:

Christ summons all his followers—whether they are married or living a single celibate life—to a higher standard of loving. This includes not only fidelity, forgiveness, hope, perseverance, and sacrifice, but also chastity...

To live and love chastely is to understand that "only within marriage does sexual intercourse fully symbolize the Creator's dual design, as an act of covenant love, with the potential of co-creating new human life"... This is a fundamental teaching of our Church about sexuality, rooted in the biblical account of man and woman created in the image of God and made for union with one another...

Two conclusions follow. First, it is God's plan that sexual intercourse occur only within marriage between a man and a woman. Second, every act of intercourse must be open to the possible creation of human life. Homosexual intercourse cannot fulfill these two conditions. Therefore, the Church teaches that homogenital behavior is objectively immoral, while making the important distinction between this behavior and a homosexual orientation, which is not immoral in itself.

Physician, heal thyself! What part of the statement above can Dignity and its allies not understand? I mean, it's on their own freaking website!

"All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous." -- ["Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons", Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 1986].
