Please explain one simple thing to me. If we humans are evolved creatures from ancient monkeys, then why is there still monkeys?

The simplest explanation is that you don't understand the fundamental concepts involved in evolution and therefore are probably not going to get much out of the discussion until you read up a bit.

It would be similar to someone wondering how a rocket engine could work in the vacuum of outer space with nothing to push against. For them to understand, they would have to learn about the physics of conservation of momentum, etc.

Now returning to your question. If monkeys must cease to exist because "man evolved from them" then whatever monkeys came from must also cease to exist, and whatever that pre-monkey came from must have caused the previous species to cease to exist, etc.

Following your logic all the way back -- there should just be humans on earth -- no other organism, plant or animal, since everything has common ancestry.

But that's not how it works. The appearence of a new species does not automatically kill off the old species. That's how we can have many different bird types, for instance, even though they might all have a common bird ancestor.

So kindly tell us exactly what are the fundamental concepts of evolution. Interestingly, the unScientific American article does not tell us what they are even though it claims to be a refutation of arguments against the theory of evolution!

since everything has common ancestry.

The premise.

I don't think you understand, I asked my question with a tinge of sarcasm. If as Darwin believed that we humans evolved from apes, why is there apes now, if the theory of evolution is true then all monkeys would be evolving into a more perfect creature, humans as I think you believe, the monkeys of today cannot and could not stop the evolution process if it is true, they too would evolve into human. Sorry, this is not happening. We were created in God's image we are far too intricate to have happened.

Have you ever thought about the wonderful capabilities in your body, how your eyes work, how your lungs work, your brain, and all the other amazing functions of our body and other living creatures, I cannot believe that a single celled anema was the start of this process. Have a good day.

I'm not sure if I can explain this, but I think this is a circular logic. You seem to be assuming for a fact that evolution is true (which I think some slight evolution, probably best referred to as "adaptation" is true), and then, since the facts of multiple plants, animals, etc. don't line-up with what would seem logical, that older versions would die out (since the only reason they are evolving is to survive, thus the non-evolving species should perish), you simply state that that is "not how it is" so to speak, since obviously there are many different kinds of plants and animals. There is probably a Latin term for this kind of circular argument, but that complexity is over my head.
