One should not take a good quality Bible to such a protest as it is sure to get torn and thrown. Get a cheap $1 one at a discount store or a well worn one free at the Salvation Army.
I remember a Unitarian Universalist so-called “preacher” who grabbed a good one from the hands of an anti-abortionist preacher decades ago in Tulsa OK.
The UU “preacher” bragged about how he still had that bible several months later.
It is amazing that a book composed between 3500 and 2000 years ago still brings out the beast within certain people. I bet the Street Preacher was reading Leviticus 18 to them and it cut them to the quick.

Leviticus 18:27 for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. 28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

There was a reason why this behavior/lifestyle was punishable by death in the Old Testament; He knew that when people become consumed by their own lusts that society becomes unfit for human habitation and is fit only to be burned.
