Note that it was SHEPHERDS that were FIRST to be notified of Christ’s birth.
Not PRIESTS, Sadducees nor Pharisees, the ‘Establishment’ of their day.
The shepherds represented the lowest common man of their time, and would come to represent the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.....................

Yes, Jesus’ love and salvation are for everyone, regardless of station in life, even—to the disciples’ later astonishment—for the Gentiles!

It is quite possible that some of the shepherds were Gentiles........................

Good Morning Dan, and good morning to each of you.
Beautiful Works; appreciate again you giving multiple paintings by the same artist. Such talent here.
Thank you Dan.

Day #4 of our enjoyment of these adoring and adorable shepherds.
We have tarried here long enough now. We will be moving on to observing the rituals mandated for Israel's male babies.
For the first of these, I suggest buckling up.

Mary-Lou, we must leave your shepherd friends after today. But we had four days to enjoy them.

Surely, some of those shepherds sang and played instruments. You can jam with them in heaven!

And perhaps some of Brad’s woke friends will be there, too; by then, they will have discarded their present prejudices, and will be willing to join you—wholeheartedly.

Thanks for posting. I was impressed with the absolute glow coming from Jesus many of the artists tried to portray. The word refulgence, shining, is used in Hebrews 1. And once again it’s what I think the artists are attempting to show.
“ who is the refulgence of his glory,
the very imprint of his being,
and who sustains all things by his mighty word.“
Once again thanks This is not something I would have thought I would be contemplating today. Great stuff

Where else can you find Christmas in October?!
Making baby Jesus the source of the light in these paintings, as so many artists did, is the main theme. Technically and practically, that is absurd, of course. But theologically and humanly, it is quintessential.
If I were to paint the manger scene, I don’t imagine I could forego the opportunity to feature and to emphasize the Light of the World.

I hopeso! Both are very “spiritual”, but neither have expressed a specific faith in Jesus.
So I’ll keep praying for them.
