Why Are Catholics Under Fire Over Roe V. Wade?
Newsweek ^ | May 6, 2022 | Ewan Palmer

Posted on 05/06/2022 11:24:51 PM PDT by Morgana

The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is wrong in all circumstances and that life begins at conception.

Activists such as Ruth Sent Me are now suggesting that the Catholics who sit on the Supreme Court bench are using their religious beliefs to roll back the ruling which has made abortion a constitutional right in the U.S. for nearly 50 years.

Brian Burch, president of the Catholic advocacy organization Catholic Vote, urged President Joe Biden, who is Catholic, to "immediately and forcibly condemn these domestic terrorist threats" ahead of Sunday's protests.

"Anti-Catholic zealots are plotting to intimidate and harass Catholics across the country, along with justices and their families. This country was built on freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The President of the United States must stand up for both," Burch said.

"We call on responsible leaders in Washington to unequivocally condemn these dangerous threats before they lead to violence, or worse."

There have been reports that far-right groups are planning to hold counter-protests against the abortion right demonstrations, which could further escalate tensions.

Rita Katz, the head of SITE Intelligence Group, an organization that shares threat information with law enforcement, said that extremist groups are not concerned with defending Catholicism or defending anti-abortion views, but are just targeting women with their planned demonstrations.

"For far-right extremists, the focus on Roe v. Wade isn't simply about religion or conventional debates about 'when life starts,'" Katz told Politico. "It's about the toxic resentment of feminism that unites the entire spectrum of these movements, from Neo-Nazis to QAnon."

Ruth Sent Me has been contacted for comment.

Uhhh...

Perhaps these leftards need a hasty lesson on the difference between Catholics and Quakers....?

‘Cuz they may get a harsh one come Sunday.

Similarly, all conservatives, even spineless GOPe folks like Mittens, warhawks like the Neocons, and libertarians will all be labeled fascists by the leftists.

It's time for the faux conservatives to join up with the progressives because they won't get any credit for moving toward the progressives unless they go all the way.

I don’t know why they always go after the Catholic Church. They aren’t even a real religion.

This is a Christian issue, not just a Catholic issue - and non-Catholics have often been attacked in the past for holding the same conviction. It is not primarily about debates about when life starts; it is about when an actual life ends due to intentional prenatal (in utero) infanticide. The debates are simply necessary to expose the lies of the death merchants.

Monogamy: Mono-Gamy: Mono-Gamete: The point at which one haploid male gamete (sperm) fertilizes one haploid female gamete (ovum), thus creating one diploid zygote – by far the default norm for a human pregnancy - is an objectively quantifiable, independently occurring, event: That is the beginning of a genetically distinct human being, whether that zygote - hence fetus - survives gestation or not. Any such event is inherently objective, internal, independent, and invariable.

That zygote does not develop into some chaotic, degenerative tumor (mass of cells) that resides in the woman’s uterus - or some other random part of her body - indefinitely, perhaps permanently, possibly metastasizing into a life-threatening cancer. That zygote does not develop into a giraffe or a zorilla or a hyrax. It develops into a surviving human being that inevitably departs from the woman at some point in a predictable way and at a predictable time – or it does not survive. Either way, it does not become a tumor or an animal or a minivan.

The detectable-heartbeat definition for (re-)defining a growing fetus as a human being, employed even by well-meaning rightists, is utterly bogus: Detectable how? Detectable when? By a human ear pressed to a bulging belly? By an Apple iPhone app? By a SONAR apparatus from a nuclear submarine? Any such detection is inherently subjective, external, dependent, and variable.

A preborn fetus is not “viable”; a newborn child is not “viable”; a year-old child is not “viable”: All three of those stages of human life demand protection and nurturing from more mature human beings. Denying the rational science of recognizing that a fetus is a developing human being laid the groundwork for the current madness of spuriously redefining a genetic male as a woman.

Ok all you liberals and media whores, repeat after me -

The Supreme Court ruling will simply strike down the federal law and return the issue to individual states, where it always belonged!

Newsweak: Typical one-sided propaganda specific to the LEFT! While article quotes a [Roman] Catholic lay leader, Brian Burch, of ‘Catholic Vote’, note how much is imputed about the “far-right” biasses and intentions. “Ruth Sent Me” and “SITE Intelligence Group” have no such prejudicial adjectives, a common tactic in the LEFT to make the center appear to be moving their way.

I am not a Catholic but they were among the 1st to speak out against the unspeakable sin of abortion. Many evangelicals followed suit later

Why? Because satan knows who the true obstacle to his plans is and it’s not the churches that talk a good game about ending abortions.
Why would satan wasit the time and energy of his followers going after the rest of them?

Why Catholics? Maybe (and by maybe I mean definitely) people need to spend a little time praying about that. The devil directs his ire at his enemies. The predators go where the prey is.

Explicitly though, the focus of the faith of Catholics is the phrase “This is My Body”, so too those words are the pinnacle of satan’s sacrament. The same words with opposite meanings repeated by the priests of God and the priests of satan.

The devil knows his enemy, it defies reason that so many people who claim the title of Christian can’t, or won’t, understand that themselves.

Yeah. I don’t think abortion is really a religious issue. It is immoral with or without religion. A lot of religious people are against it, so it gives the pro-choice movement a target to attack.

Our Bishop sent out a memorandam about the planned protest. It said to not interfere with protestors and not lock them out. Watch and endure I believe the phrasing was. It also said to alert any security officers to this policy. Worries me just a bit, because this is the first time I have seen a notice like this issued. Do they have good intelligence that its going to happen?

I expect out Bishop would agree with that. It’s stupid and therefore par for the course.
