Don’t interpret everything literally.

That is the Catholic position, not the Fundamentalist position.

As for And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Look no further than here for the first mention and interpretation (and don't let the "bowing" be a stumbling block). There is really no other scriptural passage that presages the teaching:

Elisha the prophet, calls Elijah the prophet "my father" and attributed to Elijah the strength that belongs to our Father in heaven. He was not punished for this and it was not called out anywhere in scripture until implicitly in the Gospel of Matthew, which would be rather curious without this illumination. So, in essence, call no man "father" while attributing to that man the essence and attributes of God. The LORD God of Israel was "the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof", not King David, not King Solomon, and not Elijah the Prophet.

• 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
• 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
• 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
• 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

Interpret scripture with scripture, taking special care of first mention, which is why Joseph's dream of the sun (Jacob/Israel), moon (Rachel), eleven stars (sons of Jacob/Israel), and Joseph (object of the dream) are an image of what was to come with Miriam/Mary in John's vision.

The only way you can float that lie is to ignore all the verses right before and right after the ONE verse you want to make say it is Mary the Mother of Jesus. what a Catholic you show yourself to be, posting the writings of others without attribution and claiming your religion's interpretation of scripture, shuffled along by taking verse out of context, as if you have found truith even as you share false interpretations of God's Word. The following is the context you deceitfully leave out:

17 and the dragon was angry against the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, those keeping the commands of God, and having the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The scene is stretching from the time of God taking Israel as His wife to the time during the Tribulation when satan is so angry at Israel for bringing forth the Messiah, and satan tries to kill Israel but God supernaturally protects her to the end of the Tribulation. Have you never read the twelfth chapter of The Revelation? If the imagery is of Mary where are the following attacks on Israel to be placed in your mythos?

As you are probably aware, I disagree with 99% of Catholic positions. That’s just the way it is bro. It’s not likely to change, in the next 3 trillion eons. 😄 I don’t even know if we have the same Jesus. Remember, it’s not enough to have faith in Jesus. We must have faith in the RIGHT Jesus. I know I do, though I don’t know if you do. Call no man father bro, and worship the RIGHT Jesus.
