Virginia Governor Vetoes Bill Prohibiting Punishment of Those Who Believe in Biblical Marriage

RICHMOND, Va. — The Democratic governor of Virginia has vetoed a religious freedom bill which would have prohibited the government from punishing those who believe in biblical marriage and conduct their public lives in accordance with that conviction.

“Although couched as a ‘religious freedom’ bill, this legislation is nothing more than an attempt to stigmatize,” Gov. Terry McAuliffe asserted in a statement on Thursday in rejecting S.B. 2314 and H.B. 2025.

“No person shall be required to participate in the solemnization of any marriage, or subject to any penalty by the Commonwealth, or its political subdivisions or representatives or agents, notwithstanding any other provision of law, solely on account of such person’s belief, speech, or action in accordance with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman,” the vetoed legislation read.

McAuliffe remarked that the federal and state Constitutions provide adequate protections, and that “any additional protections … that prefers one religious viewpoint—that marriage can only validly exist between a man and a woman—over all other viewpoints … is not only unconstitutional, it equates to discrimination under the guise of religious freedom.”

McAuliffe likewise opined that such laws are harmful to the economy.

well, at least tim kaine had started in richmond, becoming the mayor, then the lt. governor, and then governor... that is a long time compare to the other two as a resident of va. over twenty years should be good enough. at least he’s not like his running mate, clinton, the “new york” mayor. spot on for mcauliffe, what a shame and sham.

Virgina should just allow Maryland annex the DC suburbs so it can be a solid red state again, then scum like MacAullif, Kaine and Warner could never get elected there.

First amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. What I most resented about Kaine when he ran for governor was how his campaign mocked his opponent’s SW Virginia accent. Unbelievable. He played centrist and that lasted right up to the election when he switched dramatically back to the left.

The problem, evidenced by states unjustly punishing Christians during the lawless Obama Administration, is the following imo.

Christians evidently do not know their 14th Amendment (14A) protections well enough to protect themselves from low-information, Christian-hating state officials.

”14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

In fact, note that Acts 22:25-29 indicates that Paul claimed his protections as a Roman citizen so that he wouldn’t be flogged.

Also consider that regardless that 14A gives Congress the power to strengthen constitutionally enumerated rights, 1st Amendment protected religious expression and free speech in these cases, that corrupt, RINO-controlled Congress sat on its hands and did nothing to protect citizens whose rights were abridged by the states.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Remember in November ’18 !

Since Trump entered the ’16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the ’18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.

Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.

In fact, if Justice Gorsuch is approved but turns out to be a liberal Trojan Horse then we will need 67 patriot senators to remove a House-impeached Gorsuch from office.

Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February ‘18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.

While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably haven’t been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed below.

I hope all the factions can unify behind the GOP gubernatorial candidate in November and we can defeat the Democrat. Voter fraud in the blue areas is still a problem though.
