You have to give the guy credit. He may have been twisted in his understandings of God, His Word, and many other things, but he built a publishing empire through his faith, hard work, captivating products, outright lies and pure hucksterism.
I think I saw some of his works in underground comics back in the 60s and 70s. He had a keen eye.
“His death has already been posted.”
Yesterday. And not the article I posted but merely a twitter posting. I have every right to post this. You don’t have to like it.
By the way, the other thread WAS NOT POSTED IN THE RELIGION FORUM where it should have been posted no doubt. This thread IS posted in the religion forum.
Into Judgment and Mercy. R.I.P.
I imagine he expected to find heaven a lonely and empty place. He seemed to have thought that only people who agree EXACTLY with him on EVERYTHING will be saved. His main thing was to hate every church that did not exactly match his brand of fundamentalism.
Wherever he ended up, I am cherishing the thought of him beholding Our Lady.
If he gets to meet St. Peter - let’s hope he will - I wonder if he will say to St. Peter as he is opening the gate, “Wait, you aren’t Catholic, are you?”
What Jack Chick did was present God's plan of salvation in deeply penetrating graphic form. I know people who have been saved and/or who have gotten up out of spiritual doldrums. I have given out hundreds of his tracts and seen people brought to Christ by them. I am quite sure that many thousands have been saved by faith alone in the Person and Work of Christ through the witness of his tracts. They definitely always make the reader face his/her predicament and demand a decision.
Now, how many of the spiritually lost and dead to God have your words turned to God from idolatry, religious or otherwise? How many babes in Christ have you brought to spiritual victory and maturity, vladi?
Are you in a position to judge the life work of Mr. Chick? Eh?
Already posted.
Jack Chick has passed away

I’m under the impression that the only time that matters is when someone posts the exact same story and source.
There are lots of articles posted here on the same exact subject, but from different sources with different takes on it.
Interesting.
As I said on the other thread: Some of his tracts are OK. Some of them are stupid. Some of them are libelous. If you were passing out the libelous tracts, don't expect any praise for that.
As for the late Mr. Chick: May God have mercy on his soul.
That is a different article. Actually, it looks like a vanity.
I had no idea he was this old. He had some really good bible tracts.
Considering that Chick was persona non gratia on the Religion Forum, it makes sense that his obit not be in the RF. That is why I included the RM in the discussion.
Also, I wanted to point out to others that there was already another post on the subject.
I have no strong opinion on the deceased, as I am only vaguely aware of him. But I do know he stirs up controversy on the RF.
I confess that after the thread was posted yesterday, I remembered that I disagreed with him on something but couldn’t remember what, so I looked him up.
And then I realized there was virtually nothing we agreed on.
But I was addressing the concept of “what makes a duplicate post”. We post many articles on the same subject all the time. It’s because they bring different information and perspectives to the table. However, if someone posts a townhall article and then someone else posts the exact same article, THAT is a duplicate.
I was only addressing that issue.
But I’ll add that since Chick’s whole career was producing religious materials, any news about him most definitely should be in the religious forum. It’s the only reason he’s (in)famous.
He certainly did.
Thanks for the ping.
I did not call it a duplicate post, I pointed out that his death had already been reported. There is a difference between the two.
