Christ's Church has been immaculate since the Pentecost. This nonsense about "maturing", "growing" and "turning" is all Protestant nonsense.
How could it be that the Church didn’t/shouldn’t grow? Wasn’t that intent of the Pentecost? “Go and preach the Gospel to all nations.” It was intended to grow.
Today it is in Ireland, Scotland, Africa, Japan(thanks to the great missionary St. Frances Xavier), India, the Phillipines, Guam, China (where it is suppressed) the American continents...shall I go on? All of these areas were the efforts of..first the Apostles...and then our missionary priests.
The Church, in its “infancy” in the early centuries has rightly “matured”: we have churches, cathedrals, schools, monasteries, religious orders, charitable foundations. That is a maturing of the spreading of the Gospel, which we were commissioned to do.
None of that is “nonsense”. It is visible signs of fulfilling the commission of the Lord Jesus Himself.
If you don't think that the Catholic church matured, grew, and prospered over the centuries, then you're sadly mistaken
