that kind of sounds like the origin of the protestant denominations...make up things as you go along, eliminate books from the Bible that do not follow your particular belief track, accept certain Scriptures any deny those that you can't explain, have each participant kind of make up his/her own pathway to salvation, deny the entire history of Christianity up until the time that you decide what is right and what is wrong.....yup, Mormanism and Protestantism have a lot in common.....do it my way, it is new and exciting....
no
Can't come to grips with the miracle of transubstantiation can you???Too bad, you're missing out on one of Christ's greatest gifts...and He told you directly that He was giving it to you.....and you said no thanks....amazing
Then perhaps you could explain why so many Central and South American countries and countries like the Philippines are such third world hell holes, while Protestantism produced counties like the UK, the US and our representative form of government, and other prosperous Northern European countries that led the way in exploration and innovation.
” YOU DIDN’T REALLY POST THAT DID YOU??????????”
yes.
“the early church soon became known as the Catholic church.”
only took a three hundred years for the transformation to be complete to what we have today - though they continued to alter the Gospel and doctrines.
BTW, back then, no one lived three hundred years. I think you are remembering the time of Methuselah.
You NEVER see a Catholic eating or drinking spiritually other than the Eucharist...That's exactly what Christ promised...that we'd be filled spiritually through the consumption of His Body and Blood....try it sometime, you'd be amazed at how His promise is fulfilled!!
Well, I expected a response of the kind that He is God and we are not, and you indeed clarified. But my impression remains that because of the lack of spiritual practice in the company of saints Protestantism indeed develops in its adherents a sense of distance between Jesus and us sinners. The saints are dead, the divine guidance died with the last evangelist; Jesus, God that He is, would not want even His mother with Him in Heaven; the Holy Scripture, -- His love letter to us -- is filled with "minefields" that only an academician can comprehend. That is not an attractive set of traits.
So your theory is that Jesus changed his mind in the middle of the chapter? Your understanding of this is that people just meet Jesus once and then walk away because they are done with Him?
I receive the Eucharist precisely in order to come to Jesus, and be securely with Him, as He explains, and not be lost: not to gain His company for I have it securely already, but to keep His company because I am happy in it.
The Eucharist is the food that feeds my spirit; “flesh profiteth nothing”.
The Catholic Bible is the same today as it was two thousand years ago.
Those who go against Paul's explicit teaching about women pastors are in no better shape than the homosexuals who ignore God's explicit teachings prohibiting their acts. Good faith or no good faith, when God sets down truth we had best be in obedience to Him or face the consequences. Nothing that He has said WRT women in authority over men in the church or homosexual acts were said to harm us but were for our good and the good of society. Those who imagine they have progressed past God are fools.
They don't have them "down pat" enough to fool those of us who DO know what God has ALWAYS said about homosexual acts. All the weasel words, rationalizations, justifications and excuses don't work when placed up against the absolute truth God has given us in His word. If, however, ALL we have is what has been handed down through traditions and customs and not the unchangeable word of God from the unchangeable God, then their arguments may have merit. But we are not dependent on such mere human rules, are we?
Lutheran, Anabaptist, Anglican, Mennonites, Calvanist, Presbyterian, Congregational, Baptist, Dutch reformed, Congregationalist, Quakers, Amish, Freemasons, Methodist, Unitarian, Methodist Episcopal, Episcopalian, United brethren, Disciples of Christ, Morman, Church of Christ, Seventh day adventist, Christadelphian, Bretheran of Christ, Salvation Army, Holiness, Jehovahs Witnesses, Christian Science, Church of God in Christ, Church of Nazarene, Pentecostal, Aglipayan, Assemblies of God, Iglesia ni Christo, etc, etc, etc...
LOL -- you just proved the man's observation/contention be accurate, and true enough.
You were succinct and to the point, though...could have gotten a few points for that perhaps...
Then you had to go and mess all that up by making up yet more "stuff" to complain about those (livin' rent free! in drafty places...) pesky protestants.
You are the one who can make us all laugh
But doing that you break out in tears
Please don't be sad if it was a straight mind you had
We wouldn't have known you all these years...
Good; for it shows that the Religious Organization based in Rome has gone FAR overboard in AMPLIFIYING the biblical Mary's role.
Nonsense..all of Europe, including the U.K was Catholic and hence prospering...Henry VIII decided that he knew better than the church and decided to go off on his own....bad idea.
While most of Europe was indeed ruled by monarchies, most were relatively safe places to live due largely to the influence of the Catholic Church on western civilization. Schools, libraries, monasteries, Cathedrals, churches, etc were predominately Catholic.
The people who fled Europe to come to the land that Catholic Christopher Columbus discovered, financed by the Catholic Queen of Spain, came here to escape the tyranny of the Protestant king of England.
Doesn't the TEXT say?
(Most guests are there to enjoy the day; not to do any work.)
This is my body...
You just canNOT make this stuff up!
LOL, her we go again. First, I am not a protestant. I am an evangelical, born again Christian. Now, the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, catholics, Iglesia Ni Manalo, Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name Above All Names, to name a few, say pretty much the same thing. They mostly all claim that we must be baptized, we must do all kinds good things and hope our good deeds outweigh our bad deeds, in order to work our way into Heaven, and then be members of their church. They all claim to be the only true church. Weird isn't it? I don't tell anyone what church to attend. The Iglesia Ni Cristo, or the Philippine Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Manalo) are the most fanatical cultists I have seen here, and they are rabidly anti catholic. I asked a few of them why they did not like catholics, they really did not know why. The point being, they don't like each other, but their religious doctrines are almost identical.
Terry, you and I probably agree that we don't like Obama and the rats and dislike Islamic terrorism, but religiously speaking, we have nothing in common. I don't think we worship the same God. I am comfortable with that. One day we will stand before God and give an account for our beliefs. I am comfortable with that too.
The rest of you wonderful born again Christians, keep telling the truth. It is what we do best. I am also comfortable with that.
