As a Catholic I am outraged!!
Islam is evil and as far as I’m concerned he’s legitimizing it. And broadcast over the world? I’m furious!!

Dumb stupid ignorant idea.
When the bearded savages start saying Christian and Jewish prayers, THEN peace may be on the way.
Right now, they are laughing in their dirty beards as the Pope makes a fool of himself.

Bishop Sheen in the fifties did say that Rome and Mecca would be united by their common worship of Mary.

I just looked at the source of your post. Do you really believe this coming from Arabia?

Of course it would be biased.

Muslim prayers anywhere in the Vatican is just beyond foolish.

Pope Francis must be nuts.

When I was Democrat in my 20’s and a Christian without very much knowledge of the Lord (so that I lived as a lesbian) I thought “peace in the Middle East” was possible by human peace-making. Then I read all of God’s Word (and believed it) and came to know that it isn’t. And I know not to pray with unbelievers. I’m not surprised at this point, though, that the Pope would. I believe John Paul II did, too, IIRC.

My very protestant pastor would never, repeat never, allow a muslim to come and offer a prayer in our sanctuary.

The church is supposed to be Jehovah's house....not Allah's.

But perhaps this does give some clarity on the cathechism where it says the catholics and muslims both adore the one, merciful God.

From the catechism of the roman catholic church

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

If this is not the intent of this section in the catechism, then it needs to be reworded to remove the ambiguity.

What’s next? Open up a nunnery as a brothel, then have pregnant nuns have abortions several months later as a gesture of peace towards Planned Parenthood? /s

Somehow, I just can't picture St. Peter being okay with letting pagans pray in any of the congregations he might have set up. “Hey, guys”, he'd say, “Everyone sit still, bow your head and pray along with Abdullah while he offers worship to a demon.” Nope, can't see it!

I am a Catholic and have many issues and problems with the Catholic church of the past and today, so much so that I probably wouldn't be considered Catholic anymore by many.
That being said, this is completely wrong and as wrong as something can possibly be.
I see the church moving further and further away from the Lord.

Just my personal opinion and enough said on my part.

Three different religions, three different “Gods,” and they’re all going to simultaneously and conjointly “worship” together. Interesting. Hmmm.

So, does the pope pray to Allah or our LORD Jesus Christ?

The pope, Peres and Abbas will read individual invocations for peace, shake hands and plant an olive tree in the gardens. Patriarch Bartholomew, the spiritual head of the Orthodox Church, will also attend.
