A New Blow Against the Franciscans of the Immaculata --- Pilgrimage Church Refused Them

(Rome), a new blow by the Commission set upon the Franciscans of the Immaculate by the Congregation for Religious. The lay association Mission of the Immaculate Mediatrix (MIM) was denied the Marian Sanctuary of Pompeii. Since the year 2004, MM brought believers together to take a pilgrimage from Naples and Campania to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, the most famous Marian shrine in this part of southern Italy. Yesterday, on Divine Mercy Sunday, however, the faithful were denied access to the holy image

Prohibition of Commissar Volpi Led Prelate of Pompeii to Ban

On 10 April, when everything was already organized, the faithful were informed by the rector of the Basilica, Monsignor Salvatore Acampora, the use and access ban without notice. Pilgrimage, Holy Mass, Rosary and Marian songs had to be canceled. On request of the disappointed believers, Msgr Acampora declared the following day that the Church has the status of a Pontifical Basilica Cathedral and was erected as a Territorial Prelature in 1926. So it stands under papal law, which is why the responsible Prelate and Pontifical Delegate for the Shrine, Titular Archbishop Tommaso Caputo currently could not ignore the measures of the Apostolic Commissar of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, Fr Fidenzio Volpi.

"Tell us What We Have Done Wrong?"

Commissioner Volpi had in the course of the destruction of the Franciscan Order, which the Congregation of Religious calls "normalization", forbid on 27 November, 2013, the ecclesiastically recognized lay association from any activity. "A radical intervention, which took place without any justification. Tell us what we've done wrong: If it is a sin, an act against the Gospel or a violation of canon law" demanded Claudio Circelli, one of MIM leaders of Naples, for the last ten years, who organized the annual pilgrimage to the Queen of the Rosary.

Unfounded Prohibitions: "So They Don't Apply to Believers"

The ban on the pilgrimage's access at the basilica of Pompeii can be justified formally, with the activity ban on the MIM. "A ban in reference to the unjustified ban of the Commissioner, and one washes the other's hands. That's arbitrariness. So it doesn't apply to the faithful," wrote the newspaper which quoted Il Mattino di Napoli, an indignant member of the MIM. In fact, a Commissioner Volpi has not justified that the prohibition will result in further bans after themselves without ever explaining in order to punish the lay organization.

Old Mass, Promoting Tradition, Criticism of the Second Vatican Council - For Some Unbearable

The provisional administration of the Franciscans of the Immaculate was arranged by the prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, João de Aviz Cardinal Bráz in July 2013. A step that also took place with the express approval of Pope Francis in a form that the Order took every opportunity to appeal.

The crackdown is connected with that of the hitherto flourishing religious order under Benedict XVI. which changed internally to the old rite and intellectually took a very active part in the debate initiated by the German theologian Pope on the interpretation of the Second Vatican Council. It undertook a defense of Catholic tradition against modernist tendencies in the Church and especially in the training of theologians and priests, which to some was unbearable in the Church, but under Benedict XVI. they could not take action against the Order. However, due to the pontificate change to Pope Francis, they were active immediately and with the utmost severity against the Order. The arbitrary act against the Order has overshadowed the current pontificate.

MIM - Marian and Missionary

The MIM was established in 1990 by the founder of the Franciscans of the Immaculate in 2013, the deposed Superior General Father Stefano Maria Manelli in the Marian shrine of Loreto. The MIM align themselves with lay people who try to live in their respective state of the charism of the Order. They vow to be Marian and missionary and to promote the devotion to Mary and to promote the mission ad gentes, particularly "where the struggle for the salvation of souls and the edification of the Church is particularly fierce."

I guess Pope Francis wasn't serious when he told the parents of an FOTI religious that he (Francis) would "soon" end his persecution of that religious society.

I don’t get it. Were they displaying some sort of inequality?

I believe so; they were too “Marian”. Might offend muslims, Protestants, Jews, etc.

Meanwhile, he’s rehabilitated this Irish dissident priest, author of an extremely grotesque attack against Catholic morality:

When Irish dissidents are smiling

Strong punishments remain for traditional-leaning friars and religious in the Franciscans of the Immaculate, but one of Ireland’s most vocal dissident priests in the Marist order had, according to the Irish Times, the help of the current pope and the former president of Ireland for a return to “good standing” in the Church.

Pope Francis is believed to have intervened directly with the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) to have all sanctions on silenced Irish priest Fr Sean Fagan (86) lifted.

It was confirmed to The Irish Times in Rome last night that Marist priest Fr Fagan, who has been subject to sanction by the Vatican for six years, is no longer so.

...

For many years Fr Fagan, who has suffered ill health for some time, had been critical of rigid stances by the Vatican on issues to do with conscience and sexual morality notably in letters to this newspaper. In 2003 he published the book Does Morality Change? And in 2008 Whatever Happened to Sin?

In 2010 he was informed by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that he would be laicised should be write for publication any material it considered contrary to Church teaching and should he disclose this to media.

“Has Sin Changed?” “Does Morality Change?” Apparently.

“What Happened to Sin?” Great question.

Pope Francis is more open to the followers of proscribed Marxist liberation theology than to orthodox traditional Catholics.

Other than by virtue of being a Jesuit, how is Pope Francis connected to those quotes?

CDF head: Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology

The Tablet ^ | 5/2/14 | Christa Pongratz-Lippitt

http://www.thetablet.co.uk/blogs/1/365/liberation-theology-coming-in-from-the-cold

According to Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology, the same discaterio that once condemned the movement. In the 1980s the CDF under then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger attacked liberation theology as borrowing “from various currents of Marxist thought“.

It is a fact that in the Liberation Theology the Gospels are profoundly corrupted by Marxist ideology and praxis, including the promotion of class struggle and the creation of the so called “iglesia popular” (parallel and opposed to the Church), an instrument used by Marxist theologians to support the Marxist guerrillas and regimes in Latin America.

During the Nicaraguan Communist Sandinista regime, they went as far as substituting Christ on the Cross for a naked Che Guevara with his genitals exposed.

“During the ordination in Managua of Nicaraguan Napoleon Alvarado by the Jesuit Luis Manresa, who was Bishop of Quetzaltenango, and who was then rector of the University Landivar in Guatemala City, to the Offertory of the mass of ordination, Napoleon offered a machine gun extolling the Sandinista movement and the Jesuit liberation theologian Fernando Cardinal choosing him as a model of his priesthood at the service of the soviet. “ (Ricardo de la Cierva, “Dark Rebellion in the Church” pag.24)

The Marxist Liberation Theology, although it had its roots in the works of European theologians, it had its largest impact in Latin American, mostly by the works of Catholic theologians. This movement also infiltrated the American churches, and not just only the Catholic Church. Obama’s religious mentor for over 20 years, Rev. Wright, is a follower of the Marxist Black Liberation Theology, a racist anti-white church whose Marxist praxis compels his followers to pray “God damn America” instead of asking blessing for this great country of ours.

The American Maryknoll Order became one of the main promoters of the Marxist Liberation Theology in Latin America. In Colombia the Diocesan Father Camilo Torres joined the Marxist guerrillas and died in one encounter with the government forces. He is perhaps best known for the quote: “If Jesus were alive today, He would be a guerrillero.”

The subversive activities and collaborationism with the Marxist guerrillas of a group of Jesuits in El Salvador, including his superior, Ignacio Ellacurria, professors from the University of Central America (UCA), was so scandalous that in 1972 the Bishops of El Salvador threw them of the control of the Seminary of San José de la Montaña where there was a Marxist-Leninist cell among seminarians prepared by Dr. Fabio Castillo, who was the rector of the National University.

During the 1980’s,the Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC), located in the San Antonio Seminary, served as the headquarters for the Marxist Liberation Theology in the U.S. This Center, sponsored by Archbishop Patricio Flores, became the Mecca of Marxist Liberation Theology in the U.S. where priests, religious and lay Catholics came from as far as Philippines to be indoctrinated in the Liberation Theology by the luminaries of the movement, which included Father Gustavo Gutierrez’s putative father of Liberation Theology.

In the book store of the MACC you could buy not only the most radical works by the Jesuit priest Jon Sobrino or the Franciscan Leonardo Boff, but you could also buy the bible for the conquest of power by the Marxists, Saul Alinksy’s “Rule for Radicals”, a book dedicated to Lucifer, who he considered the first radical. This manual has proved to be very useful to Barack Obama, who excelled in applying it in his struggle to reach the White House using the Marxist praxis developed by Alinsky.

Spanish Catholic historian, Ricardo de la Cierva has written several scholarly works on the communist infiltration in the Catholic Church, including “Jesuits, Church and Marxism - unmasked liberation theology,” (1986) “Dark rebellion in the Church” (1988), and “The gates of hell” (1995).

Pope John Paul II put Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in charge of confronting the doctrinal corruption that pervaded certain aspects of the Theology of Liberation.

In 1984 the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith published “The Instruction on Certain Aspects of the Liberation Theology”. It was a dagger to the heart of those theologies which, in one way or another, embraced the Marxist fundamental option. The preferential option for the poor will never be well served through an atheist ideology that has brought so much oppression and misery to the world.

After the measures taken by Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, the followers of Liberation Theology entered in a period of hibernation to apparently resurge with Pope Francis.

The liberationists rejoiced with the election of Cardinal Bergoglio as it seems that they take for granted that he is one of them. One of Pope Francis’ most vocal supporters since his election has been Leonardo Boff, one of the founders of liberation theology, and the most radical of it, a man silenced by the Vatican in 1985, and later by his Franciscan Order because of his attacks to the main tenets of the Church. An exulted Leonardo Boff expressed his feelings: ‘This pope will change the church’, basically, according to Boff, in fact we shouldn’t need a pope. The church could build a network of religious communities which communicate with each other.

I believe Pope Francis is not Marxist, but it seems that he is influenced by peronism’s alleged third way between socialism and capitalism, even though, Peronism was a disaster for Argentina.

We pray to God that the followers of the Marxist Liberation Theology are wrong and that Pope Francis is going to prove to be as loyal to the True Faith as was Pope Wojtyla and Pope Ratzinger.

I hope the previous post left clear the relationship among Pope Francis and the Marxist liberation theologians.

As you surely knows, Müller is the prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; but, very few know that he is also a pupil of Gustavo Gutierrez, the “father” of Latin-American liberation theology. It certainly, when Müller, the prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith affirms that “Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology” it makes clear the reason for the exaltation of Leonardo Boff and the most radical leaders of the Marxist Liberation theology with the election of Pope Francisco .
