Beginning Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014, and running through Easter, April 20, the Church is launching an Easter initiative called Because of Him, focusing on the hope, healing, and salvation made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Elder David F. Evans, Executive Director of the Missionary Department, said, As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to do as He has instructed: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. The Because of Him Easter initiative is part of an ongoing effort to follow the Saviors admonition.
Using the Internet and social media, the Church will extend an invitation for people to consider all that is possible in their lives because of Jesus Christ. The invitation will direct people to visit the web page xxxxxxxxxx. On this Easter web page, visitors can read the Easter story, learn more about the teachings of Jesus Christ, view the video Because of Him, or chat online with a full-time missionary.
The new video created for the Easter initiative depicts the importance of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ compared with various historical events. Containing no speaking, the video uses text, music, and visuals to help viewers become believers. Brief scenes from the ministry of Jesus Christ are reminders of all that is made possible because of Him. Viewers of the video are invited to visit xxxxxxxxxx to learn more about Jesus Christ, His atoning sacrifice, and His Resurrection.
One of the examples of the Lord hastening His work is the marvelous technology available to us to share His gospel. With the Because of Him initiative, we will be promoting the video and web page on Internet sites and throughout social media. Viewers will be able to access parts of the initiative through promotional videos, Internet banner ads, social media memes, and YouTube.
Latter-day Saints can get involved in the initiative in several ways. First, for those members using social media, look for daily postings on xxxxx starting April 13.
Second, go to the Facebook page and like the page. This will allow the initiatives daily postings to appear in a persons Facebook newsfeed. Each day, a new, sharable graphic will be posted focusing on something made possible because of Him. The same thing can be done for those using Google+ or Twitter.
The third way to get involved is by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others using the initiatives various offerings. When making social media posts, include the hashtag xxxxxxx. While using social media, members may share personal thoughts and feelings about those things made possible using xxxxxxx On the mormon web page, members are encouraged to read and share the written Easter story as well as the xxxxxxx video with friends and acquaintances.
The full initiative containing the video, web site, and social media components will be available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The video will be available in 17 additional languages.
The emphasis of mormonism in the Spring has been instead April 6, 1830: The Day the Church Was Organized
The organizing of just any church may or may not be an important event, for many dozens of churches have made their appearance in the United States over the last century and a half, but the reestablishment and formal organization of Gods true church upon the earth is a happening of such vital significance and vast meaning that it should excite the interest of every human being in this day and time.
This new mormon marketing campaign of Easter is, as noted in the article above, rather than meant for the worship of the Savior and the Resurrection, an attempt to build the membership of the mormon church.
Ping
Easter always falls on a Sunday.
The mormon church has always emphasized the "Atonement" in the Garden, rather than the resurrection.
What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?
It is impossible to put into words the full meaning of the Atonement, which is the most important and most transcendent event in the history of the world. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, the Savior atoned for our sins. This is the good news for all people!
We cant fully understand how Jesus suffered for our sins. But we know that in the Garden of Gethsemane, the weight of our sins caused Him to feel such agony that He bled from every pore (Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-17).
Later, as He hung upon the cross, Jesus again felt the weight of our sins even as He willingly suffered painful death by one of the most cruel methods ever known. Jesus the Christ, page 462 states, It seems, that in addition to the fearful suffering incident to crucifixion, the agony of Gethsemane had recurred, intensified beyond human power to endure. In that bitterest hour the dying Christ was alone, alone in most terrible reality.

Sorry - my Savior came in the name of love. Not as some graceless fictional character.
Correct.
Website xxxxxxxx is http://easter.mormon.org/
I didn’t care to direct any traffic to the web site. Do you?
Irrelevant. It is merely a fact. People can choose for themselves whether to click on it.
Why? Do you think it has some mysterious power?
Poor Mormons. The better ones really want to be Evangelical Christians, but most Mormons probably never give it a thought, although they are told during their missionary year that they should cover up the Mormon specific aspect and just present it as Protestantism when they’re trying to make converts. Meanwhile, the polygamy cult crowd is off in its own space.
Mormonism is indefensible from any point of view, because, like Islam, it’s a bizarre “prophet” centric cult that arose in a time and place where orthodox Christianity was very weak. So the “good” Mormons are trying to co-opt Christmas and Easter in order to make themselves feel orthodox and accepted.
There should be serious Catholic and Evangelical outreach to Mormons.
I expect to see
IMO you are making this personal.
There are some Prod/Evangelical outreach movements entrenched in Utah.
Your attempt to hide it gave it a certain amount of power that it shouldn’t have. It’s just a website.
You mad, bro?
And confuse others who don't know much about Mormonism, duping them into thinking they are Christians.
Let them have Easter. It’s not a biblical celebration anyway.
There are millions of Christians who acknowledge the Resurrection in Easter services.
There is nothing Christian or biblical about using the Resurrection as a marketing ploy.
"Just go to XXXXX.com and chat with our missionaries."
I know millions of Christians recognize it and so do the Roman Catholics, but that doesn’t make it biblical. There are biblical reasons to oppose it. Has anyone ever shared them with you? I readily admit I celebrated Easter for years. Today I am thankful for those willing to raise this issue with me. I urge all who take the Scriptures seriously to consider this issue carefully before making your mind.
