I didn't follow up on that thread because it was turning hateful and THAT IS non-Christian and against God's Word. Look at the time stamps - Swedenborg wrote 35 volumes - I'm 55 and am still learning... she came to her conclusion in minutes from an un-sourced statement of faith somewhere on the internet? Her profile has "I will do as God Almighty commanded do my best to expose false teachings and prophets, if you are offended take it up with Him." Remember all you heretic watchers: Matt 15:10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, "Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
no sweetie, it's God's definition.
But, hey thanks for following me from thread to thread coming up with conclusions about why I beleive what I beleive ....
Luther only used three to four Bible passages? Do tell. Would you like to provide some documentation for you claims?
If the works of the Law, handed down by God Himself at Mt. Sinai, can't save anyone, then what makes anyone think that any other works will save anyone?
Nobody says works aren't important. It's that works don't save.
Golly!
I wonder why?
Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
1 John 3:21-24
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps Gods commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
As does God...
Luther's justification by faith alone
Again Luther was quoting God's words.. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:17
the just shall live by faith Habukkuk 2:4
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished--He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Romans 3:22-28
and some more verses on faith
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Hebrews 10:38
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see....And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him.
wasnt some of Mormonism copied from the writings of Swedenborg ???
Dave, you haven't a clue. First and foremost is the complete redefinition of the person of Jesus into just another 'god' among a plethora of gods and the foundation of a works based salvation.
You bleat about "work" - try actually studying it in context and not by number count - you will amaze yourself and learn something.
Remember all you heretic watchers: Matt 15:10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, "Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
Oh please Dave - place these things in their context. But if you want to test it, what have your prophets said:
Believers in the doctrines of modern Christendom will reap damnation to their souls.
- Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, see pp. 45-46
... all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ.... in large part the worship of apostate Christendom is performed in ignorance, as much so as was the worship of the Athenians who bowed the Unknown Gods.
- Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 269, 374-375
Now talk to us about who's attacking who and what comes out of the mormon mouth.
