AS THE NEW YEAR STARTS, FATHER JOHN CORAPI VANISHES OFF THE RADAR SCREEN (Cath Caucus)

This is noteworthy: Father John Corapi’s Internet presence at sites such as the www.theblacksheepdog.us and http://theblacksheepdog.wordpress.com has vanished, ditto for his presence on YouTube and Facebook. No one I know has any clue what happened to him, but there are several possible scenarios that would explain this. The one I hope is correct is that he has reconciled with the S.O.L.T. order he once was a member of and, more importantly, that he has reconciled with the Catholic Church, from which it certainly seemed he was distancing himself in the wake of all the unpleasantness that erupted last year.

In any case, his abrupt disappearance from the Internet serves as good reminder that we should all continue praying for him, whatever path he may be on. May God bless Father Corapi and may He bless us all.

Never underestimate the power of prayer! I know many of you have been praying for Fr. Corapi. Please continue those prayers. May the new year bring us better news regarding Fr. Corapi.

There’s no asterisk behind the Eighth Commandment allowing for calumny.

And just like the rest of us he is a sinner.

I pray that all is well with him.

Father Corapi’s series on the Catechism of the Catholic Church was awesome and followed the Magisterium. He never taught against the Church.

We have no true idea of what is going on in his life and that is why we must pray for him.

I believe that John Corapi's conversion, becoming a priest, and initial efforts to save souls were, in the beginning, entirely sincere. Somewhere along the way, his ministry became a business to him, and he reveled in excess - once again dazzled by worldly rewards as in his previous career as a millionaire. Contrast the humble priest in his early priesthood with the dyed-beard guy who ranted and raved for the money.

Perhaps he has once again hit bottom and is crying out for Our Lord and Savior. If so, may God grant him peace and good health as well as forgiveness.

my guess is drug dealers and hookers are doing very well with the millions made off unsuspecting Catholics.

having a deep voice fools a lot of people.

Fr. Corapi had/has a public speaking and teaching ability (gift) that very few people possess. I learned a lot from his EWTN Catechism series, and some of the other series he did there.

We know that even a righteous man stumbles seven times a day, so I know for sure that I ain't going to be casting any stones at him. I think I'll just let God handle all the judging for everybody.

I also know certain addictions and related problems can be extremely difficult for some people to overcome in the first place, and just as difficult at times to maintain and remain in that clean/pure state where the problem never returns.

I have no idea what's going on with Fr. Corapi right now, but I think you have the best advice -- keep praying for him -- and I intend to keep doing that too. I too hope he is in the process of reconciling with his SOLT order, and that maybe his rare gifts can once again be used in some way for the glory of God.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Fr. Corapi was ordained as a Priest by John Paul the Great. Prayers for his intercession may be a good idea.

(By the way NYer, if it's not too much trouble right now, could you please add me to your Catholic Ping list? Thanks!)

A gentle correction is in order, you can be a CHRISTIAN and a Roman Catholic also.

Better to keep him in prayer.

Pride is such an insidious sin.

I will keep him in my prayers.

Curious. I just read a statement from you regarding Fr. Richard McBrien that might fall into the same Category.

He didn’t fleece anyone. The company sold items and everyone who bought them was very pleased with them. They were well produced and orthodox. No fleecing was involved at all.

fleeced is probably not accurate.

let’s just say that those buying his materials had no idea where his “profits” would be spent.

i doubt they would have bought the items if they knew.

they probably assumed it was a Christian company, not a front.

You wrote:

It’s pretty obvious most of the money was spent by the company for costs and for Corapi’s land, house, and vehicles so I really don’t know what you mean.

“i doubt they would have bought the items if they knew.”

Actually, I think if they knew most of the money was spent on costs and property they still would have spent the money.

“they probably assumed it was a Christian company, not a front.”

It was company selling Christian items.

They were not fleeced.
