Being Scot-Irish, I guess it’s okay to tell this story.
A young Scotsman and lass were sitting upon the warm green grass of a dell staring dreamily up at the clouds. “A penny for your thoughts.”, she sweetly asked him.
“Oh, I was just wondering if I could kiss you.”, he answered.
“Yes, you may.” she demured.
A few moments went by and she looked up at his face to see a slight look of worry. “Another penny for your thoughts.” she said.
“Oh, well, this is much more serious.” he said.
“Well then, please tell me.” she said coyishly.
“I was wondering,” he said, “When are you going to pay me that last penny you owe me?”
