The ultimate intention of Catholicism is the restoration of the Holy Roman Empire. That has always been the ambition, at least covertly, but now it is being promoted overtly and openly.
The purpose of this article is only to make that intention clear. It is not a criticism of Catholics or Catholicism (unless you happen to think a Catholic dictatorship is not a good thing).
The most important point is to understand that when a Catholic talks about liberty or freedom, it is not individual liberty that is meant, not the freedom to live one's life as a responsible individual with the freedom to believe as one chooses, not the freedom to pursue happiness, not the freedom to produce and keep what one has produced as their property. What Catholicism means by freedom, is freedom to be a Catholic, in obedience to the dictates of Rome.
The Intentions Made Plain
The following is from the book Revolution and Counter-Revolution:
"B. Catholic Culture and Civilization
"Therefore, the ideal of the Counter-Revolution is to restore and promote Catholic culture and civilization. This theme would not be sufficiently enunciated if it did not contain a definition of what we understand by Catholic culture and Catholic civilization. We realize that the terms civilization and culture are used in many different senses. Obviously, it is not our intention here to take a position on a question of terminology. We limit ourselves to using these words as relatively precise labels to indicate certain realities. We are more concerned with providing a sound idea of these realities than with debating terminology.
"A soul in the state of grace possesses all virtues to a greater or lesser degree. Illuminated by faith, it has the elements to form the only true vision of the universe.
"The fundamental element of Catholic culture is the vision of the universe elaborated according to the doctrine of the Church. This culture includes not only the learning, that is, the possession of the information needed for such an elaboration, but also the analysis and coordination of this information according to Catholic doctrine. This culture is not restricted to the theological, philosophical, or scientific field, but encompasses the breadth of human knowledge; it is reflected in the arts and implies the affirmation of values that permeate all aspects of life.
"Catholic civilization is the structuring of all human relations, of all human institutions, and of the State itself according to the doctrine of the Church.
|
Got that? "Catholic civilization is the structuring of all human relations, of all human institutions, and of the State itself according to the doctrine of the Church." The other name for this is called "totalitarianism," the complete rule of every aspect of life.
This book and WEB sites like that where it is found are spreading like wildfire. These people do not believe the hope of America is the restoration of the liberties the founders sought to guarantee, these people believe the only hope for America is Fatima. Really!
In Their Own Words
The following is from the site, "RealCatholicTV." It is a plain call for a "benevolent dictatorship, a Catholic monarch;" their own words. They even suggest that when the "Lord's Payer," is recited, it is just such a Catholic dictatorship that is being prayed for.

Two Comments
First, in this country, freedom of speech means that anyone may express any view no matter how much anyone else disagrees with that view, or is offended by it. I totally defend that meaning of freedom of speech.
This is what Catholics believe, and quite frankly, I do not see how any consistent Catholic could disagree with it, though I suspect some may. I have no objection to their promoting those views, because it is what they believe. Quite frankly I am delighted they are expressing them openly. For one thing, it makes it much easier to understand Catholic dialog, and what they mean by the words they use.
Secondly, I think if their views were actually implemented, it would mean the end true freedom, of course, but I do not believe there is any such danger.
I’ll go roam around the net and see what else i turn up, this was fun
not even coming out of anybodys belly button
lolol. As God wills. 8~)
I pulled the image to my desktop, opened it in MS Paint, slapped a circle around the dove, uploaded it to my photobucket account and then linked to it in my post. First time I’ve ever done it which is why I didn’t expect it to work.
The dove is the center of the image, I think a massive bird would look bizarre. This particular picture is very small and low resolution but the dark background the dove is on looks like it’s the same color as the rest of the background and it looks like we’re seeing a head on view of the Father... think superman flying at you rather than standing up.
You’ll notice there are a lot of other heavenly figures surrounding the central throne, I don’t even know what event is being depicted here. My first thought is it’s the coronation of Mary, but I’m not sure. It’s about 800 years old as best as I can tell.
INDEED.
. . . the human body . . . of Jesus . . . to term . . .
This means you can repent and confess you were wrong and likely be back in good standing with the Church again.Your Baptism is still valid etc... Those who have WILLFULLY left the Church have essentially been excommunicated for the time being by their choice to leave or for other reasons.
Here is what Canon Law says...
Can. 694 §1. A member must be held as ipso facto dismissed from an institute who:
1/ has defected notoriously from the Catholic faith.
And ...
§2. Nevertheless, the institute is to observe equity and the charity of the gospel toward a member who is separated from it.
The following is what ex Catholics(like on FR)are guilty of
Can. 1369 A person who in a public show or speech, in published writing, or in other uses of the instruments of social communication utters blasphemy, gravely injures good morals, expresses insults, or excites hatred or contempt against religion or the Church is to be punished with a just penalty.
Salvation is not in error since you can most likely come back
Because they are at nature, control freaks?"
The Catholic Church is a voluntary association of like minded Christians. It does require that you believe certain things to remain a member. No one compels or forces anyone to conform. Everyone is completely free to believe something else, just not to call themselves Catholic while doing it. It works for well over a billion people.
Thought that was wrong when I typed it . . . 400 million.
Amen
You really need to study art history before you make a profession like that. The Holy Spirit is dead center. It is the image of a descending dove with a halo.
In pre-Renaissance paintings position within the painting was critical. Perspective would not be introduced for hundreds of years. The arrangement of principles is symbolic rather that photographic. The Highest is God the Father, Christ is above Mary and the Holy Spirit between them all, as a unifying entity.
You are going to have to tell me more about this work of art because I am not familiar with any "Trinity of Parma" and the painting or fresco. It looks more Byzantine than Roman.
Just as ours should."
Once again...right on the nose.
“”We need to rethink our Reformed soteriology so that every limb and every branch in the tree is coursing with the sap of Augustinian delight. “”
Piper was hardly a scholar on Blessed Augustine!
Lets look at some prayer and writings of Blessed Augustine with REAL delight.
Saint Augustine Prayer.
Prayer to Our Lady of Mercy - St. Augustine of Hippo
Blessed Virgin Mary,
who can worthily repay you with praise
and thanks for having rescued a fallen world
by your generous consent!
Receive our gratitude,
and by your prayers obtain the pardon of our sins.
Take our prayers into the sanctuary of heaven
and enable them to make our peace with God.
Holy Mary, help the miserable,
strengthen the discouraged,
comfort the sorrowful,
pray for your people,
plead for the clergy,
intercede for all women consecrated to God.
May all who venerate you
feel now your help and protection.
Be ready to help us when we pray,
and bring back to us the answers to our prayers.
Make it your continual concern
to pray for the people of God,
for you were blessed by God
and were made worthy to bear the Redeemer of the world,
who lives and reigns forever.
Other Writings...
“But in regard to those observances which we carefully attend and which the whole world keeps, and which derive not from Scripture BUT FROM TRADITION, we are given to understand that they are recommended and ordained to be kept either by the Apostles themselves or by plenary COUNCILS, THE AUTHORITY OF WHICH IS QUITE VITAL TO THE CHURCH.”
Letter of Augustine to Januarius 54,1,1, 400 A.D.
“I believe that this practice comes from apostolic tradition, just as so many other practices NOT FOUND IN THEIR WRITINGS nor in the councils of their successors, but which, because they are kept by the whole Church everywhere, are believed to have been commended and handed down by the Apostles themselves.”
St. Augustine, Baptism 1,12,20, 400 A.D.
“What they found in the Church they kept; what they learned, they taught; what they received from the fathers, they handed on to the sons.”
St. Augustine, Against Julian, 2,10,33, 421 A.D.
“Since by Christ’s favor we are CATHOLIC Christians:”
St. Augustine, Letter to Vitalis, 217,5,16, 427 A.D.
“By the same word, by the same Sacrament you were born, but you will not come to the same inheritance of eternal life, unless you return to the CATHOLIC CHURCH.”
St. Augustine, Sermons, 3, 391 A.D.
“This Church is holy, the one Church, the true Church, the Catholic Church, fighting as she does against all heresies. She can fight, but she cannot be beaten. All heresies are expelled from her, like the useless loppings pruned from a vine. She remains fixed in her root, in her vine, in her love. The gates of hell shall NOT conquer her.”
St. Augustine, Sermon to Catechumens, on the Creed, 6,14, 395 A.D.
Piper either had no clue about Blessed Augustine or he used 1 or two of his writings to support an agend.
Blessed Augustine would have admonished the likes of Piper if they were living in the same time period
This thread makes me want to drink.... heavily.
You are only about 3000+ posts getting to that point! :-)
Correction: You’re only about 3000+ posts LATE getting to that point ! :-)
“”We need to make plain that total depravity is not just badness, but blindness to beauty and deadness to joy; “”
More gibberish from piper.
Here is what Blessed Augustine writes...
http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/ipb-e/epl-01/agenc-01.txt
A good that wholly lacks an evil
aspect is entirely good. Where there is some evil in a thing, its
good is defective or defectible. Thus there can be no evil where
there is no good. This leads us to a surprising conclusion: that,
since every being, in so far as it is a being, is good, if we then
say that a defective thing is bad, it would seem to mean that we
are saying that what is evil is good, that only what is good is
ever evil and that there is no evil apart from something good.
This is because every actual entity is good [omnis natura bonum
est].
