When I first started posting here, sinky and other ‘Catholic’ posters attacked me viciously for saying things like that. Odd how times have changed.

Any clue why the church would do that to itself?

Call itself a "faith community" instead of a "parish"?

Well, "Parish" just sounds so ... Catholic ! I mean, it smacks of rosary beads, indulgences, confession, fish on Fridays ... all of those things we've outgrown, ever since we discovered that the Gospel is really just another way of saying "social justice" and the only real sins are racism, homophobia, and an excessive carbon footprint.

/s, of course. When I look for a parish to attend while on vacation, anyplace that call itself a "Catholic Faith Community" automatically gets crossed off the list.
