I John 5:10-13 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Scripture says that we can know. John says that that is why he wrote those things to fellow believers, that they might KNOW that they have eternal life.

The only ones who seem not to know are the very ones who THINK they can do something to impress God. The very definition of vanity. I can. I will. I..I..I..

There aren't enough scriptures in the world to show someone who thinks they can that they can't. It only takes one. Or an infinite number. Depending on the size of the vanity mirror.

It is Christ who truly knows our hearts ... how we’ve lived our lives; have we spoken to our neighbors without harshness or impurity. One can say over and over and over again, “I’m saved! I’m saved! I’m saved!” but it means nothing, and they look silly doing it; only a fool would claim for themselves what Christ alone can do.
