Jesus left the 99 to rescue the one sheep gone astray....today I believe there may be more caught in thicket, or on their way there, than there are those receptive to Christ and the Gospel in our country.
I agree with Alamo-Girl that not all who claim Christian are Christian....testimonies of those who have come away from false Christianity attest to the fact that though they thought they were Christian..once they step away from the clutches that bound them they soon learned they were not even close. As that day approaches when Christ calls us to Himself I am fast coming to believe there will be and is a "rescue" attempt to seek out believers and bring them back to the fold of true Christianity before He comes.
There are some missionaries now who are joining churches who see their mission as converting those within the church to Christianity....the church itself is now seen as a mission field.
My view is that Christian Unity drives Christians crazy.
It seems to me the more mature a person is in the Christian faith, the more likely he is to do the latter and be led of the Spirit right into the "belly of the beast" of some of these mainstream spiritually dead congregations or atheist strongholds.
The Apostles, most especially Paul, were ever being led into the "belly of the beast."
Infiltration is the published tactic of the gay activist movement and I suspect now the atheist activist movement.
But considering the signs of times, I expect God to lead us away from them.
INDEED.
