Tell me, are you advocating that the words of mere men are as important as those of Christ? This coming from a person, who like Augustine, was it, would not believe the "gospels" if the authority of the Catholic Church had not moved him to? I'm not all that convinced too many Catholics believe the Bible is inspired by God at all. "Mere" men? Really???

God inspired the Bible, according to the Bible and to Church teachings. I don't know which Catholics you are speaking of.
