Likely?
No, I don't think so.
The more a person is taught the things of God by the word of God, the more a person is able to discern those genuine things of God from ersatz things of God, whether they be "physically tangible" idols or "intangible" idols.
In fact, one could make the argument that the more a person is attuned to the fact that human beings are predisposed to all sorts of idolatry and mischief and self-deceit, the more likely that person is to recognize idolatry in any form since it is all spawned by the same error -- service to someone other than the Triune God.
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God" -- 1 Thessalonians 1:8-9"For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
So Paul doesn't differentiate between idols of silver and gold and idols of our own makings, but he certainly does declare the singularity of whom we are to serve -- "the living and true God."
And none else.

" O Lord of infinite goodness, by the miraculous making of this image of Mary Most Holy, Thou hast given us a powerful intercessor to whom we might have recourse with total confidence in her amiable protection in our necessity. Grant us the assistance that we are asking with fervor and confidence so that we might know, honor, and serve the Blessed Virgin, and so that by her intercession, we may achieve on this earth our sanctification and afterwards, be happy with her in Heaven. Amen."

One should give their all to God because He’s the only one who should get your all, as Jesus told us in the Gospels. The first and greatest commandment.
Matthew 22:37
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
Luke 10:27
He answered: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ “
That is most definitely praying TO her.
