7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

Haha you should also start up an “attack the messenger” list to go with the strawman list.
Bwahahaha!
So, the Ascension, the Pentecost, various Apostolic miracles and the revelations to the Apostles didn't happen?
Exactly
On the otherside of the same token you can say they did not have to go to the bathroom in the New Testament too. Its not a accurate way of thinking.
Absolutely right. Loved every word. Thanks.
Praise God!
Post 193 by jg: Then it is too late to correct the injustice done to the Mother of GOD. St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort said it best in his book True Devotion to Mary, Let no one presume to hope for the mercy of GOD, who dares to slight or offend GODs mother.
Post 194 by mm:Got some Scripture to back that up?
Irrelevant to the topic post 205 by jg:Now what about honor thy father and thy mother? Dont you think He kept that one too?
Do you have any Scripture to back up this guy's contention that anyone " who dares to slight or offend GODs mother." should not presume to hope for the mercy of God? Where'd that blasphemy come from? Where in Scripture is it said that our receiving God's mercy is dependent on our opinion or treatment of Mary?
Hahaha! Too right! That’s great.
I’ve got stuff to do tonight and I will be gone all day tomorrow, I’ll be back Sunday afternoon.
Praise God, Sunday’s coming!
Catholics do NOT have good arguments for what they believe. Their arguments are so weak and flimsy that you can drive a mack truck through the holes punched in them.
The teachings of the Catholic church on Mary do not have any basis in Scripture unless that Scripture is highly stretched to make it fit.
Their devotion to Mary is admirable rather based solely on their loyalty to the Catholic church, not to the fidelity of the Bible.
I agree 100%!
Odd how they appeal to Scripture to back up their doctrine no matter how convoluted or read into, but when others appeal to Scripture, it’s not good enough.
Your the one who needs to focus. You do not want to be intellectually honest. You want to act like a clown go ahead!
Personally ,I think many anti Catholics are misguided and ignorant- mostly just weak in following others wanting to belong to the crowd in forums like FR . They are not knowingly hateful, although there are a few who are hateful knowingly who are like demons-most are just spiritually blind like cafeteria Catholics
“If sola scriptura was mentioned in Scripture..”
It is repeated in the Bible several times that the Word is to be searched and is good for instruction.
It is also repeated several times in the Bible that the doctrines of man and the doctrines of demons are to be completely avoided and are bad for instruction.
Well, after removing the last two from consideration, the only thing left is the Bible, hence, learn from the Word alone.
“Additionally, the Church has NEVER suggested that the mother of God is a goddess.”
Additionally, if something walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and is worshiped like a goddess...
Not being entered into the canon means it cannot be treated as though it were.
Peter said there were “artfully contrived stories” that some were paying attention but that the God inspired canon was the only writing that was trustworthy. (2 Peter 1:16-21)
Exactly. What Rome did was take a pagan religion and change some of the names to Christian names. An unholy marrying of Christianity and Satanism.
