I think that metmom has stumbled onto something that Protestants do not get. Peter has the keys to Heaven and Jesus still holds the keys to Hell. Salvation through His Church, and Jesus, the Judge, holds the keys to open the door of hell for those whom He damns.

If you ever decide to study the scriptures instead of your catechism, you'll find that the Kingdom of heaven is not Heaven...The Kingdom of Heaven is the physical kingdom on earth which will take place when Jesus reigns on earth as the King during the Millennium...This was offered to the Jews before Jesus was Crucified and then taken away til after the Tribulation...

And there is no lock on the door to this Kingdom...It doesn't need a physical key...The 'key' is the knowledge needed to enter this kingdom...It was given to Peter and the Apostles in the Gospels...It was rejected by the Jews...It will again be offered...

As a mental exercise, even presuming that Jesus meant what the Catholics say He meant and Peter really does have the power to allow or deny people access to heaven, just what kind of man would do that?

Join my church or go to hell?

nice.......

Interesting case in point. Do you have any other?

When I was young, I loved science fiction and fantasy.
