My brother, that statement is as logic-free as the one the "scientist" made. I'm not aware of any person whose faith in the death and Resurrection of Christ depends on the authenticity of a cloth in an Italian church, and therefore will quit the Faith if it's debunked. Are you? Can you show them to me?
“Can you show them to me?”
The hysterical anger of some on this thread regarding the possibility that the shroud is a fake is compelling evidence of weak faith.
Look, the burden of proof is on the proponents of the thread. What they have is a cloth that poppsed up in the 1200s.
The theory used to be that it was “impossible” to recreate the image. Well, this experiment shows that it could be created with tools available at the time of appearance.
The fake icon trade was brisk back in the day (like now), giving a great motive for a fake to be generated.
The C-14 dating, while disputed, is consitent with the fake theory.
So, in sum, proof the shroud is real is the word of some traders who were out to make a buck circa 1200.
Looks slim to me.
