I do have understanding and compassion for Catholics. I know what you have been taught about Mary and how you revere her. As a mother, I too understand how she suffered. I have no problem with that. I have a problem with the fact that way too many good Catholics put her on an equal keel with Jesus, our Saviour. Yes, she was His mother and we know she was blessed by God, but that’s where it ends. She was a sinner saved by grace, like you and I. She died and was buried, like you and I will be. I know it’s against your teachings and I’m sorry that what I say doesn’t agree with your viewpoint about her.
We don’t agree with you. So it is what it is.
Catholicism doesn't teach that.
She was a sinner saved by grace, like you and I. She died and was buried, like you and I will be.
Thank you for sharing your own personal interpretation of Scripture.
My personal feelings, that I share with you, are mine. We all learn mostly through our family and our personal experiences. Our masses come directly from the bible. We are not this bizarre cult that for some reason you perceive. I am a woman and a mother just like you. I am pretty much able to see Jesus in every one. My husband, who I sense is like you, distrusts all non-Catholics as being cultish. I sort of understand where you are coming from, but you are mistaken. Perhaps it was you who’s “teachings” interpret something mistakingly.
You and others say this often. I haven't really seen it, but I haven't been in the Philippines or the other places. (It always seems to happen far away from where I am.)
I'm not clear on how that's the fault of the Church. Are we to blame if some Catholics are secret atheists or read and believe their horoscopes?
Before anyone goes to light a candle or whatever, you we submit them to some kind of theological "inventory"?
I WILL say that de Montfort is NOT for beginners. I happen to enjoy him and his enthusiasm, but the boy is NOT a theologian. I would agree with him that any Christian's life would be better if he prayed the Rosary the correct way, which mean meditating on the mysteries, not just blah blah blah.
