If I understand correctly [RCC 1667-1679] suggest that each of the following are sacred "signs", are to be considered to be sacramental, and have the intent of bringing spiritual dimension to the events of everyday life [RCC 1667-1668, 1670]. I will cite some of the better known sacramentals
- reception of actual grace
- material blessings
- increased love of God
- sorrow for sin
- attonemnent for temporal punishment due
- venial sin forgiveness
- protection from Satan
A close walk with the Lord will take care of all of that as well. If you need those things, so be it. That’s how you’ve been taught. But those are just outward ‘signs’ and can just be done by rote without a true relationship with the Living God. Jesus has done for me all the things you relate in the last half of your post. I didn’t need the above to have that kind of relationship with Him. I’m glad it’s worked for you, however.
