Draw a large circle, let it represent the population of the United States or the World (your choice), now color in the part which represents the population of Catholics who have read the Catechism. The circle will be mostly blank - close to none.
You can assert anything you want to, but that doesn't make it true. You can insist that barely any Catholics have read the CCC. I don't know why you feel like you need to make this false assertion, but I guess it is in keeping the false nature of this article.
It's the vicodin taking, I'm sure, but this is a silly argument! We're all just guessing. Has either of you done a meaningful sample?
Anyway, I would humbly suggest that the real deal is not how many times you've been through [the book in question] but how many times it's been through you.
So what if it's just us who have read it (or in my case, who have read IN it)? Our view is that the Church is a hospital for people with afflictions, and some aren't ready yet, and some will never be ready to read the Catechism. My kid is pretty devout. She's also learning disabled out the wazoo. Not unintelligent, just afflicted with a weird constellation of neuro stuff secondary to myoclonic epilepsy of infancy. (she's lucky to be alive, frankly and we are always rejoicing.)(and if you need any Avon stuff, now you know whom to call, right?) If she EVER reads the catechism I will personally faint.
So enough of this stuff, please, or Ill come break YOUR feet -- just as soon as I can walk again.
