Praise God!!!
(We should do more of that around here...)
Well, for the sake of completeness, a critical aspect of the definition of Hell is that there's no getting out. Purgatory, by contrast, is NOT for ever. It's until you're cured or paid up or whatever metaphor one likes. So everyone in Purgatory is assured that they are going to Heaven. By definition, therefore, they are not already in Hell.
Side note: calling something "overwhelming" does not make it so.
It isn't my Church. It's God's.
Whatever for? They wouldn't support the agenda.
Hi, lady. I pray to God through His Son, Jesus Christ (in HIS name). I believe that's the correct way to do it. I know of no one who prays to the Holy Spirit. Hmmm. Errors abound here.
Oh, for heaven's sake. The Catholic church is NOT the true church of Christ. The true church is the Body of Christ. We're a mixture, we're not THE Catholic Church but we ARE the true Church.
AMEN!
Uh, in one passage it says that God sits upon the circle of the earth. Doesn't sound flat to me.
Show me the words "holy water" in the Old Testament or the New Testament. When the priests or others washed themselves, was it in "holy water" or just "clean water"?
Are you saying that "clean water" is "holy water"? If so, then my bottle of Evian Spring water is "holy water", right?
In the NT Christians were baptized in water --- not clean water nor holy water, unless you can say that the water of the Jordan River was clean and holy
And then answer this question: After someone has dipped their hand into a basin of water in the front of the church, be it clean water or holy water, is it still holy water??? Is it still clean water??? Would you drink it???
According to the link that Salvation provided, holy water is a superstition that originates in pagan religions, right???
And where is that written??? Is that another one of those heresies invented by Origen that he brought into the church from pagan religions? Do you believe it because the Catholic Magisterium says it is true? Where is the word for "Purgatory" in the Scriptures??? Heaven is there. Hell is there. But Purgatory is noticeably absent?
As for Provenance, I suspect that the doctrine was found as a prize in a Cracker Jacks box in the Coliseum. I've ssen both doctrine and carcker Jacks boxes AND I've seen a picture of the Coliseum! Happy now? I expect to see this theory up on one of those sites, and I'll be happy to submit it to one of my professors who will testify to my academic acumen but decline to speak either way on the Cracker Jacks theory -- and that will be take as proof that I am right!
Cool! Come back next week and I'll share my theory on the origen, uh, oriGIN (that's right - gin had plenty to do with it) of the Infield Fly Rule.
Repudiating, or even simply not belonging to, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church created by Jesus Christ doesn't seem to me to support the claim that we're all the true Church.
Biblical support for Purgatory is well documented in various sites. I'm not sure that a further listing of them would be any further enlightening than it has been in the past.
By definition, Purgatory is a process, not a place. It is the process whereby one is cleansed before being admitted to Heaven. Therefore, souls undergoing Purgatory will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Gibberish again!!! Is the question too hard or is the answer too embarrassing????
Interesting...So God was wrong, or God didn't inspire the writers of the scripture???(You do have a globe, don't you?) Well the Bible says the earth is flat.
I must have missed that one...Hopefully you can lead me to the scripture on the flat earth...
Well --- now that is enlightening. It's not a place. Then where does this "purgatorying" take place? In heaven or in hell or on earth or where???
As I've said before, the description of purgatory given by Catholic writers is "Hell with an exit pass". But what if you get there and the wardens don't honor that exit pass that your magisterium has issued to you???Your stay in that purgatorying place is then forever. And what do we all call that??? --- Hell.
I'm not going to search threads for your references...If you have any, post 'em...
I know it's hard for you to accept that some of us are not persuaded by your arguments. But there's no need to become abusive. In my opinion, your case for what you believe is risibly unpersuasive. In your opinion my case for what I believe is ditto.
Tra La! The daffodils are blooming, the pagan fertility symbols are hopping across my lawn and attempting to destroy my garden, the pagan fertility festival -- aka, in the words of John of Damascus, "the queen of seasons bright" -- is less than two weeks away, and if you want to worship on a Saturday, you just go right ahead. In fact, if you want to think I'm going to hell for worshipping on a Sunday, have at it! I think it's silly, but it won't change one whit how much God loves both of us.
The Holy Water is still Holy Water. Humans don't have the ability to change it! LOL!
