Orthodox Episcopal Church Debuts This Weekend in Chicago
10/14/2005 | The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches

Dear Friends,

Christ the Victor Episcopal Church, a new mission church plant of The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (http://www.theceec.org), is holding its first public eucharist service on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 5:15 p.m. at the library of the United Church of Rogers Park, 1545 W. Morse Ave., Chicago, IL 60626. We are a traditional Anglican church that promotes the Gospel of Jesus, The 10 Commandments, and the traditional family. Contact: morningprayergroup@aol.com

You are invited!

We are a home for traditional Episcopalians, Methodists, Presbyterians and others here in Illinois, Southern Wisconsin and Northern Indiana who are frustrated with the ultra-liberal agenda of those churches -- and seeking the traditional Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I don't know too much about this first hand, but a friend of ours has been pastor of the Evangelical Episcopal Church in Greenwich, Connecticut, for some years.

He was disbarred by his bishop on a number of disputed points, of which the chief was that he refused to preach that homosexuality is a Good Thing.

As a former Episcopalian myself, I had thought that the Anglican Church was broad and tolerant enough to contain almost any range of differences, but the American bishops have been absolutely determined to force a split on their church, and they seem to be succeeding.

Dear Cicero,

You are quite a learned and intelligent man -- as your name indicates.

The Episcopal Church of the USA has indeed forced out all who believe in the Gospel of Jesus as taught for nearly 2,000 years -- until about 1975 when the "gay revolution" occurred.

Now we traditional Episcopalians are seeking refuge with like-minded bishops.

I am not surprised your priest friend was thrown out of ECUSA for refusing to preach about gays -- they won't even ordain priests these days unless they pledge that they believe being gay is great.

Please know that you are welcome at our church -- as are all. We are all sinners in need of God's help. We cannot pretend otherwise.

Thanks. I'm a Catholic now, but I was raised Episcopalian and was a High Anglican, I guess you'd say, until I converted in college. But I owe a great deal to my Episcopal upbringing, and will always be grateful for it. I'm sad to see the troubles ECUSA is going through.

Thanks to NYer for the ping. Don't know anything about the CEEC yet, but...

Traditional Anglican ping, continued in memory of its founder Arlin Adams.

FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this moderately high-volume ping list (typically 3-9 pings/day).
This list is pinged by sionnsar, Huber and newheart.
