The three kings (Magi) were said to have been Zoasterins. It's a very old religion that was seated in Persia.

The proper term for the Irani peoples is Iran -- Persia is derived from Fars, the south-eastern province from whence the Achaemenids came. However, ancient Iran, like ancient India spread over a vast area -- all of the Irani peninsula and into the Caucasus and Central Asia. Central Asia was a mix of proto-Aryan tribes: Iranis, Indics, proto-Nordic-Germanics, proto-Celts and proto-Slavs
