I lived in North Carolina for a year once. Nobody told me the state motto was "State Closest To The Sun".

Trust me, that title goes to Arizona. And it's not a close contest.

Yes. And some people who move to South Dakota think it will be warm because of the South in its name. Only with global warming will South Dakota become habitable.

Technically since Hawaii is closest to the equator it would be closest to the sun. However since it probably has the most perfect weather on earth save for the odd storm and volcano I don't think state closest to the sun is the motto they use. (I know I know...Aloha state)
