What would Schiavo know about insurance? He was a restaurant manager

Good question

I'm not sure how much restaurant managers know about restaurant ownership..but Mike might have known something about companies that insure restaurants.

The current parent company for Jerger (Philadelphia Consolidated or Philadelphia Insurance Companies)

Designs, markets and underwrites personal and commercial property and casualty insurance products

Liberty American Insurance Group (A member of the Philadelphia Insurance Companies) 7785 66th Street North Pinellas Park, FL 33781 We offer Personal Lines Products including: Homeowners, Manufactured Homeowners, (Jerger's specialty, I think) and Flood Insurance Programs. (The LAIG Pinellas Park, FL location does not support PHLY Commercial Insurance Products.)

It was pointed out by Bob Schindler, Jr., that the insurance company that paid Schiavo no longer exists. Therefore, no suit can be brought by a company to recover his fraudulent insurance award.

Thanks for the information, Theodore R.

Good questions that provide a direction for research this morning.

There is NOTHING straightforward about this case. Many posts back someone mentioned making a chart categorizing the connections. I picture a 'chart' as a spider web with poor Terri as the fly in the middle.

avoiding further silly inquiries.

My mother-in-law often said, "There are no silly questions."

I've found that to be true, too.

You never know where a question might lead, even if it's one that's been asked before.

Pertinent information might have appeared between the two times the question is posed.

I know it was good for me to go back over the Jerger information we had here and to remind myself that Schiavo has an important friend in Jerger.

[Why Jerger would want to be friends with Schiavo, is another question, too]

I picture a 'chart' as a spider web with poor Terri as the fly in the middle.

An accurate image.

Picturing Terri in a web brings another question to mind.

There was some story about a Terri/Mike argument regarding her being blonde. She went to a hairdresser that fateful day. I can't quite follow what happened.

Why did he object to her spending $80 at the salon?

Were they in trouble financially, or did he dislike the thought of her looking "too" good to other men? Did Mike object to her being a blonde?

It is impossible for me to understand how the public and the St. Petersburg Times could present the Michael Schiavo "side" in a way that the public would support.

When I lived Clearwater the articles where always slanted in M. Schiavos favor. For example, for years the articles never said he was living with another woman and they always described Terri as someone that should be "allowed to die". They had an agenda and the public bought it.

Thank you for the explanation..

According to documents posted on this post M. Schiavo got Terri's parents to sign a legal document making him her sole guardian. He did this very soon after her collapse. This one fact alone tells a lot about his intentions from the very beginning. He was up to no good from the start.

Good post bump. The fact that they are retroactively applying law really bothers me as well. Seems utterly ridiculous and certainly illegal. I say email your perspective to both judges.

Wasn't it reported that Mike's examining doctor did not give Terri the >>>time<<<< she needed to respond to his directions?

Shouldn't Terri be given "extra time" to prove that she is not in a PVS?

It's an extablished educational practice to allow students (especially learning disable ones) enough time to respond to teachers' questions

Learning-Disabled Woman to Have More Time for Bar Exam

In August, [2001]the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a learning-disabled woman has to have twice the normal 2 days to take the New York State bar examination, according to an article by Mark Hamblett in the New York Law Journal.

Marilyn Bartlett, whose 8-year fight with the New York State Board of Law Examiners has included an appeal to the US Supreme Court and two appearances before the 2nd Circuit Court, convinced Judge Sonia Sotomayor that she has a disability that should be accommodated under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

If the USA can give someone extra time to pass the bar, shouldn't the USA give someone extra time to prove she wants to communicate?

State Withdraws Appeal in Case Allowing Modifications for Taking Bar Exam, ABLE Newspaper, Feb. 2003

After years of litigation, including a trip to the U.S. Supreme Court, the New York Board of Law Examiners has withdrawn its appeal of Marilyn Bartlett's most recent victory in a closely watched disability discrimination case.

After the extensive litigation, U. S. Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor, approved a final settlement awarding Bartlett's attorneys nearly $1 million in fees.

[snip]Noting that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals' precedents regarding the definition of disability set in this case are firmly established, Bartlett went on, "my battle has been waged so that others will not have to fight for their rights the way I had to

It would be nice if the Schindlers' lawyers eventually got a settlement like this.

I know they are not in it for the money, but they deserve some.

"Greer has allowed Terri's fund to be squandered by M. Schiavo, no wonder he wants her dead."

The court is lastly responsible for the waste of the money specifically earmarked for Terri's rehabilitation. Schiavo has no fear of legal repercussion here.

When there was money still remaining in the fund (approximately $200,000.00) Terri's family offered to pay him that sum, if he would relinquish his role as guardian.

He refused.

Shiavro is not motivated by money.

His marriage vows are not his motivation. See post 3596.

Michael Shiavro wants Terri dead, before she can regain her ability to speak.

It would be reckless speculation to suggest the kind of terrible secret Terri holds that would instill fear in a man callus enough to be using everything and everybody within his circle to assist him in the killing of his legitimate wife.

There is a sworn affidavit describing the usual scene when he came to visit Terri. Bear in mind Schiavo told the malpractice jury he was going to become a nurse so that he could better care for his beloved wife. He now hold a nurse credential.

The affidavit can be found in the terrisfight.org by right clicking "Court Documents Here"and scrolling down to and right clicking "AFF2" signed by CARLA SAUER IYER, R.N.

"....11. When Michael visited Terri, he always came alone and always had the door closed and locked while he was with Terri. He would typically be there about twenty minutes or so. When he left Terri would be trembling, crying hysterically, and would be very pale and have cold sweats. It looked to me like Terri was having a hypoglycemic reaction, so I'd check her blood sugar. The glucometer reading would be so low it was below the range where it would register an actual number reading. I would put dextrose in Terri's mouth to counteract it. This happened about five times on my shift, as I recall. Normally Terri's blood sugar levels were very stable due to the uniformity of her diet through tube feeding. It is medically possible that Michael injected Terri with Regular insulin, which is very fast acting, but I don't have any way of knowing for sure."

As an aside to the Godless acts of Michael Schiavo, I pity the poor woman who has assumed the role of his illegitimate replacement live-in for Terri. I can hear the mantras: 'I can't marry you now'. 'I'll marry you as soon as she's gone.' 'I'll will stay with you the rest of my life.' Although, he might not want to use the last one. If the illegitimate 'wife' can read, and possesses more than a double digit IQ, she might read his malpractice testimony. In Michaels lexicon 'forever' is likely defined as that period within which someone retains a useful purpose.

This poor woman is likely in a twisted frame of mind where she is, for reasons that have become personal ( one child, and as I seem to recall, one on the way ) hoping for Terri's death as well.

I personally believe she's Michael's Achilles' Heal.

It's not within the realm of impossibilities that this insult to manhood revealed Terri's 'secret' to his live-in.

She may also know 'the secret'.

I also believe she can be turned, but that would require the kind of dedication and determination not seen from Anderson and company - until the unexpected and unanticipated participation of the American Catholic Lawyers Association, Inc., as co-counsel for Terri - IMHO.

While my use of ".... unexpected and unanticipated...." is duplicitous, I use them separately in this instance to reflect a lack of planning on the part of the Tampa/St.Petersburg 'establishment', and the application of law the American Catholic Lawyers Association, Inc. has brought to Terri's case. IMO.

Verrrry interesting.

Perhaps she should be granted immunity from prosecution if she talks.

I agree that the court [iow, Greer] is responsible for mishandling Terri's funds.

I don't recall this story. Sounds like an exhibition of his 'control freak' nature. She probably didn't ask him for permission.

Shiavo is not motivated by money.

I certainly can see your point.

Am I right in thinking Mike S. did not even sue Terri's doctors until after the results of the bone scans showed she might have been beaten?

I think it is possible that he brought the lawsuit in order to have it "on the record," that her doctors were to be blamed for her "collapse." (Same idea expressed in post 3698)

If the doctors can be made to shoulder the blame for her disability (and her eventual death), Mike gets away ...with...

I was wondering if Schiavo and Felos are not collecting money from pro-euthanasia around the world.

There must be money involved in killing Terri for this to proceed.

Remember, as was said in Watergate, keep your eyes on the money.

I still don't understand why the elite of Pinellas Co. have such rapt regard for Michael Schiavo. Does Pinellas Co. have a very high abortion rate too?
